I know that this is my responsibility to place a value on my bus . Im selling it but havent listed it yet. its in Lincoln nebraska and Id like to get what Ive put into it back.. 20K... this should be a steal in my opinion for the right person as its almost ready to hit the road. runs but may need tlc to drive it out. I post here because Ive been outta touch with you busnuts for a while and value your opinions on who might need a great deal.. Its Gmc Pd4104, #3069.

I'm gonna' hafta' tell you this, cuz I don't live around here, and them
other guys hate makin' enemas.

It's gonna' be a real, real cold day in hell, my friend.

It needs finishing work, it's an antique, it won't go without some
mechanical repairs..... and you would like 20 grand?

IF <----(big if) it was finished and
looking like a professional job, and it didn't need a frikkin thing
mechanically..... you might find some crazed individual that just
won a lottery, that might want an old converted bus.

The chances of that, is about the same as winning the
McDonald's Monopoly game.

Sorry to have typed that, and you can hate me iffn' youse want,
but selling a bus is not too easy these days for any price, and
selling one that needs work is next to impossible.

Best bet?
A. The hurricane season might bring a need for living quarters.

B. An influx of people coming down here to the south to clean
up the oil, will be looking for cheap places to live.

You'd have to get it here, tho... and you said it doesn't run...

Oh well.

You might want to consider swapping it for something you
can use.... and just forget the value it is to you.

Stay well.

I got my 4104 four years ago in much better condition for a lot less than you're asking.

There have been some very nice buses listed that have 8v71s and autos for less than 10k some as low as 5k. It might be better to keep it and enjoy it. I would be lucky to get half of what I bought my bus for in '06. Times have changed and they changed fast. Cap and Trade will cause soaring energy cost, and with the potential economic collapse that some are calling for next year (tax cuts go away, etc), people are not buying. Sorry to add to the bad news.

They are going cheap north of the 49th as well. On a previous post below I mentioned a useable 4104 that went for 2250 canuckies. So good luck in the new economy of minimal or no credit.

Joe.

To give you an idea of the market, Joe.....

http://www.a-zbusused.com/listings/l0041.html

I had paid over 8K for my used 1979 MC9.

I got it ready for interior conversion; 6 windows removed, insulated and
covered; the body painted.

It could have been driven to Alaska and back as-is. Tires were all 80%,
and it was in Charter service until the day I bought it.

I got 7k for it when I sold it.

When we buy a bus to convert, we do it because we want to do it;
considering the possible "resale value" should never be part of the equation.

Good luck with it!

You know, I have two buses worth about half of what I paid. Worse yet, I have a very nice house worth about half of what it was 4 years ago and after 3 years of trying to sell it, I have someone who wants to buy it but they can't get a mortgage!

I have 2- busses 4104,and 1 4905. The 04 is a 1957 Appraised at $110,000 in 1990-95. Saying that is nice, however I couldn't get 20,ooo for both now. The 04 is ready to go, and is tagged and insured looks and runs like a new one. It has a new engine, brakes and to save time everything under it was rebuilt at the time. The interior is good with washer/dryer,stove,ref/freezer,ice maker, tub and shower,2-18,999 cruise-air heat pumps 12kw Onan generator. The list goes on and on so will you give ME 20,000 for it?? I can wish can't I??

FWIW even though I agree with everyone else about how depressed the bus market appears to be, ebay can still surprise me at times. If a couple of guys with a few bucks to burn decide to go for it, a little bidding war could bring you a high price....they would have to know next to nothing about buses, but this forum and the other regularly have guys showing up with a "new" bus that they bought knowing next to nothing about buses.

Yep....and if one compares the "value" of our coaches to the price of a ...uh...Motor Home.... well, doesn't take long to realize/recognize a "True Value"...:-)....or?

Thanx for that Pat!

There's a 4104 on the E-place. Item # 300438866938. Starting bid is $23,500. Hopefully, the OP can take a look and decide what he thinks his bus might be worth.

The magic words are...."the right person". How about one of those life saving "reverse mortgage" things for buses! no more worries. Half a million seniors cant be wrong! lol.
