I have a 1968 05 eagle , while stripping the interior I discovered two large metel mesh humps sticking out of the floor. These are obviously in the way and I want them out but I have never read anything about them, what are they ? and are they nessesary for something? someone here guessed they might be air returns for the heater? anyway what is involved in their removal for a flat floor?any help is appreciated.

Yes, they're air returns for the HVAC system.

If you're keeping the coach heat/air, then you need to keep them, but you can modify them to suit your layout.

If you're not keeping the OEM system, then they can be removed.

Simple, eh?
