One of the great things about this board is that there are few things that have to do with our hobby that someone can't set one (Me) on the correct path. Such was the case when I bought the 7.5 Onan gen and one of you saved me a lot off time and money by giving me the paticulars about that gen.---- Well, I got a line on another Onan gen and I hope you guys can once again keep me on the straight and narrow. The #'s are hard to read but I think they are as follows ser 5.0 FGA3CR16004A Model F7833555536 by a line I mean the guy said to take it and if it runs than we will talk money Thaks in advance again

Doug...FWIW, I am happy with Onan...since I changed to 6.5KW....the other one a 4 or 5 KW (can't remember) I was most "happy" to see behind me....as it were :-)

Doug
I dont have the exact match for your new one, but Onan's model designationis as follows:
5.0 is the kilowatt rating
FGA series identification
3CR 3 is voltage code for 120/240 volts
single phase
C reconnectable 120 volt 2 wire
and 120/240 volts 3 wire R is electric starting

Hope this helps Joe.

Doug,

Is there any chance that the model and serial number could be reversed?

Could you at least try and start it and tell us what does or doesn't happen? Was it on propane or gasoline?

My Onan is a 5.0, BGA 2 cylinder, very similar. Cummmmmmins is the only parts suplyer, points $20.00 plus $10.00 shipping, condensor $10.00, plus shipping $10.00, they came from different places. I still need to redo the carb. It runs very quiet, and I used the big rubber mounts, and, mine does not charge a battery, and uses the house battery.
