I have called the man that owns/runs this business for information and his educated opinion and he is super knowledgeable; you might want to give him a try. http://www.gasrefrigeration.net/ |

Robert...I had one repaired; $450. Lasted 2.5 years. pretty expensive "repair". I understand there is an outfit, I believe in Iowa, that will send a replacement unit, roughly the same amount of money, but the entire unit has been rebuilt, not just a repair of a leak. (possibly more about to happen, right? I suspect what happened in my case) Don't know their name or number. Mine was a Dometic, but I ASS U ME all amonia units are similar. HTH RCB |

Usually by the time you smell the ammonia it has corroded all of the piping to some degree. Especially where joints were welded and there is some minor porosity near the weld. Also the ammonia is diluted by the corrosion by-products. ...JJ |

Robert, We bought a entire new cooling unit direct from the Mfgr. Seems like we paid about 1/2 the cost of a new unit. Also recommend the Dinasoar control board will save many headaches. It was quite a job to install the new cooler, but it makes a new fridge. Jock Fugitt |
