MSR is higher than some people have posted finding a Kubota or Isuzu for.

I had a Yanmar in my last boat, loved it... very high quality.
this unit is kind of spendy, you are paying a lot for the enclosure... look some more...
6kW Isuzu $4250, in an enclosure (no wheels) $6099
If you are installing in a bus you will probably want to build your own enclosure that fits your rig.

If you are going to be up in high country and high heat: at 6500 feet and 115 degrees
a 10kW will only put out 7.7
a 8kW will only put out 6.1
a 6kW will only put out 4.6

If you went to the hyperlink, you would have seen the price is $3795.00 delivered. The MSRP is $5575.00. I am planning on putting it in my bus. At the size of the box / generator it will fit over the engine compartment in the old air handler of my RTS-06. Being that it is already in it's own box would be one less headache. I know an old friend of mine had a Yanmar 3 cylinder in his sailboat as his iron sail. It worked well for that purpose. I'm just trying to get my 'Ducks' in a row here as I am just finished skinning the windows and will soon be done with the outside work. Ready to frame up the interior and get ready to run wiring and plumming. Thanks for the input.

The add doesnt say if its air or water cooled.

The water cooled are inherently quieter and the hot circ water can be used to make almost unlimited domestic hot water , with out loading the electric side.

Yanmar IS a step up from the lawn tractor stuff, with intelligent operation you could expect about 6000+ hours in camper gen set service.

I went to the web site and they don't say what the engine rpms's are, or if it a two pole or four pole generator end. I suspect it is a belt driven, 3600 rpm (or 3200 rpm with pulleys) unit similar to the Kubota, etc., "Silent Type" enclosed generator sets. Some people have installed these units in their buses, one person has reported a failure, but if you don't plan on putting 20,000 hours on it or overloading it, it may work out well for you. I also considered a "Silent Type" for my RTS at one time-- that enclosure does save a lot of time, although you will have to splice all the wires to move the control panel into the bus. Check this unit out for a similar set-up:

Judgeing from the 10 h.p. I would guess it is a 3600 rpm unit. onan uses a 18 or 20 h.p. engine for a 1800 rpm unit....
