Ok so Ralph Peters and I spent about 6 hours last night trying. To figure out how the plumbing used to be connected in my plumbing bay. By the way thanks Ralph ! So we came across what appear to be the pumps they had installed 2 macerator and 1 fresh water are large old but rebuilt galley maid 12 volt pumps. So my question is Ralph thought I should get rid of them for something more modern And efficient . I can see his point however I have found from research today thAt I have $1800.00 worth of pumps does anyone have any experience with these how do they work and are they reliable ? |

they are from the marine world. was top of the line stuff in its day. they ain't cheap to repair but if their in reasonable shape I would at least look into them. one point I'll make is they use quite a bit of power (lots of amps) as those motors are like starter motors size ( in a 50' Hatteras and up class boat there's usually a lot of charging ability....or replace and sell em on Ebay they will sell easly |

if the belts and pullys are in good shape and dont wobble you could be ok, but i have to agree with the "go modern" sentiment.Lets get a shot of that 6 on your screen name. I had to get someone here to do mine! |

Most of the Galley Maid waste stuff I have seen is grand . There usually is a macerator end to chop the goodies , and a pump end to add water so the chopped slurry can be moved as desired. IF you have a need to push the stuff a long distance , AND have ample water it woks great as a head pump. Would work fine too as an external tank drain/macerator pump, as the extra water would be easy , and the slurry will go thru a 1 inch hose for a great distance with good rapidity. Boat stuff IS e$pensive , but usually of such quality that its worth a simple rebuild.. IF you can use its features. FF |
