My 9 used to settle when the air was out, and the door would
jam in the frame.

I took a small piece of flat PC-type plastic, and taped it to
the push lever mechanism under the dash. It added about a 1/4" to
it, allowing it to give a more full push when I hit that outside stub.

Prior to that, I had to pry the door at the bottom to get it un-jammed.

How is the door for "locking"?

The solution above is a good one, it handles the lack of throw for the push button, taking up any slack space to your advantage.

If the over-centre mechanism is getting hard to push, a slight adjustment of the door turnbuckle, in under the cover, might help.

Assuming everything is lubed and free before you try adjusting....

Be sure to mark where you are, and carefully count the degrees and or revolutions of adjustment, so you can get back to where you started, it is easy to make things wildly worse, and time consuming to get back.

Usually, the harder you set it so the door doesn't casually lock, the harder you have to slam the door to lock it, and the harder you have to push the button to break the over-centre mechanism.

It's all a balancing act.

happy coaching!
