We're about to leave for 6 months in Washington and Oregon. Can anyone recommend Diesel shops, salvage yards--anything to do with getting a bus up and going and keeping it that way.
Our 4104 sat for years but made it from Tennessee to Texas where we bought it after setting for another year, We have it stripped inside and the engine seems like it will make it from Texas to Washington, as it is running well except for some white smoke.
But once we get up there we want to spend the summer getting it up to par.
We'll be mostly in Western Washington with a month in Western Oregon. Any recommendations?

You can't do better than to trust your baby to David and Dennis Gregory at Southern Oregon Diesel.

They're in Roseburg, OR.

I'm in Seattle, WA and if I have major, or even semi-major, work to be done on my Eagle, that's where I go. Been doing so for years!

Henry,

Are they just into Eagles? What are they good at? Custom repairs/conversion? Detroit Diesel, Allison?

Stephen,

Here's a link to Dave's site: http://www.busnut.com/sodiesel.html
(I'm trying to get him to update his page!)

They do it all. I've seen all kinds of buses there when I've been on site--Eagles, GM's, MCI's Prevosts, RTSs--everything.

They're known, in the bus world, for their repowers, transmission, and maint. work.

Good folks, high-quality work, fair prices. (I wouldn't haul my butt down to Roseburg for work on my Eagle if that were not the case! Even though I love driving my bus!!)

Does anyone have any information or experience with buying a bus from a private person in Canada? What are the procedures I can expect to go through to get it back across the border and drive it down to Florida. Florida will not issue tags, temporary or permanent until it gets here. The bus is registered in Canada. Owner said I could use his plates and send them back when I get here. Anyone who has done this or knows how, I sure would appreciate some help.

Ditto on Dave and Dennis Gregory at Southern Oregon Diesel. They have been maintaining my old Prevost for a few years. Dave is a busnut and member of Northwestern Busnuts.
They're honest folks, very accomodating, have a well equipped shop and parts dept. with competent mechanics. Never had a complaint or heard one from several bus owners I know who've had work done there.

You'll be welcome to camp in their parking lot (30 amp plug-in available) while getting work done.

I-5 Exit #129 north of Roseburg, OR. 541.672.7400.
Mention my name, Rodger Manecke. Maybe I'll get a free brake adjustment the next time I stop there;)

Enjoy WA/OR
