Hello fellow Bus Nuts, an Idea hit me when I was reading Gomers thread (OT problem) It seems to me that there are those here that would maybe like to know if there are Bus Nuts nearby with more skills than bucks who may be able to help out those with more bucks than skills. we could some how have a bulletin board sort off. or in the classifieds maybe?. I believe this could be a win win since we are a community that looks out for each other. please lets hear the pros or cons to this idea. |

I don't check the board as often as I should, so if you could email me when (if) this happens, I would love to get on the list. I am near Austin, TX and can take care of most any electrical, plumbing or HVAC problem. I am not doing it for the money but to help out my bussin brothers (and sisters). My cell phone number is in my profile if anyone should need me. Best, Justin |

All rigth Justin that's the spirit. I am in Fort Lauderdale Florida. While I am not actually a bus Mechanic I do have some skills that may be of use to fellow bus nuts, such as I am very proficient at English Lucas electrics and Italian machinery so I know how to deal with nightmares. here is a bit about me. exoticautomotiveservices.com |

Perhaps this thread will become the list. In that case, I am in St Pete, Florida and glad to help in any way I can. I have a strong knowledge of things electrical, plumbing and older buses, 4104 in particular. I don't have a place to work but would be happy to come to you in the Tampa Bay area. Len |

Hi folks, At the risk of sounding repetitive or a little overly cautious, may I please continue to assert that this idea of George's is a great suggestion, but the only trouble I have with it, and continue to do so, is to have everyone's address and contact info all in one thread where it is easily disseminated by anyone. It's kinda asking for it, without overstating that term. There is a solution, which still leaves your information exposed, but at least it is on your own profile page, so therefore, it's harder for anyone to get all the information they might "want", if you know what I mean. If you'd like, please go to your own profile and in the section marked "Indicate here, if you can offer any assistance to anyone. Don't forget your contact info.:" and fill in what you're putting here in this thread. But, folks, please do remember that you are leaving yourself wide open to everyone in the world by doing this. An unsuspecting person can be unknowingly cased and God only knows what goes through peoples' minds these days. So, know the risks before doing so. I have been working on an idea for quite some time whereby we can have a contact list that is reliable and secure. It is fashioned after the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America's Anonymous Book Listing, if anyone is familiar with that publication. It's just time that I'm short of these days. I swear, a clone of myself and an additional one day a week and I'd be able to do everything I want to do!! :-) Thank you. Ian www.busnut.com |

The BMWMOA Anonymous Book is a fantastic resource and it does accomplish the 'anonymity' while also being a source for many different types of services. You can specify what you have to offer from Coffee and Conversation all the way to mechanical and towing assistance. We used it several times, for example to find shelter from an approaching storm. Even brought the bike into the living room at one place! Great idea, Ian. |

Ian, First of all, thank you for all you do. Personally, I would not have a problem with a help list fashioned after "The Places We Stay" portion of busnut.com. Since I have a business, my name, address and phone number have been all over the web for many years and I've never had a problem. Now that you have so generously offered email addresses at busnut.com, that adds another layer of anonymity. Using such a system, a member would choose their state and post as much or as little information about what they can offer as they choose. There is no reason to post your name and address, only a contact method and general location. It would not take much effort to determine if someone who contacted us was really one of us. (Does your bus leak oil?, Who is Fast Fred?, Who is MAK?) Regards, Len Silva (Message edited by lsilva on August 11, 2010) |

U R dead on, Boss Nut!...and thanx for all the help over the years in that particular area. "There is a time for....".....said long ago, and well said also....Problem is, those words didn't address 21st Century life, though well meant, and true. A few years ago, I had guy show up at my front door (NM) from Conn, As I recall he looked me up, from this web site, at the local County Asessor's Office"...got my address, plus all kinds of other info, etc. Bottom line. nice guy, no problem, but.......who else might do that...for other reasons? These are, different times....indeed! RCB |

Ian You are correct and thank you for watching out and providing this forum for us. we should proceed with caution of course until you can implement the BNO club anonymous listing. HI MARVIN. YO DA MAN!!. |
