Im going to look at this bus next week in Jacksonville but was curious about its history being a low numbered bus. Also, if someone knows of a decent used gm parts yards around that area it might save some stress.

PD4106-453
From GMC to The Arrow Lines 05/1961 fleet number 228
(East Hartford,CT)
Look at it close and make sure it not a rust bucket lot's of snow and ice and road salt when it operated with The Arrow Lines.

Thanks JL. Photos look pretty good. The engine bay door looks rust free. I wonder if it was replaced. Looks like some repair under the rear window.

If you do buy the coach.
Before you attempt to drive it back to Austin,Texas make sure you service the Spicer transmission and it uses the same oil as the engine.
Also check the fluid level in the differential and by all means GREASE the drive shaft U-joints and spline.
Bring some extra primary and secondary fuel filters.
Above all 60to65 mph will get you there and the fuel burn will be less than 70 to 75 mph.
Good Luck and the longest 200 miles is between Tallahassee and Pensacola,Florida.
Been there many times on that part of Interstate 10.
Good Luck roll it easy across I-10 and you will do just fine.

Hard to tell from the photo but could that be bubbling paint at the lower right side of the rear window? That would concern me.

Tom, I had an 06 and the entire back window section is steel and was starting to rust out especially at the bottom of the window and the lower edges. I see that on yours and it can be repaired but time consuming. I have welded in new patches and was able to keep the 06 look too. The best is repair and install a cap on it. good luck on the adventure.

Thanks for all the advice. There is/was something going on under the rear window. I blew up the photos and it looks like an old repair. Maybe bondo done many years ago. Paint is ancient. Ill giving it a close look for sure.

I did speak with the local Prevost shop who did all the work for the PO (who passed on). I was told engine was recently overhauled and PO was very attentive to maintenance. So we will see. If I do pick it up Ill log exact travel distance and fuel use for another hard data point for 4106 mileage.

BTW: Where are the air drains in a 4106?
