Rebuilt my Onan marquis 7000, Wanted to run it on the bench, Does it have to be hooked up to the remote start and hourmeter or elect panel? starter just kicks in intermitently, won't spin over. |

Ken, Sounds like you don't have good enough connections to your bench battery, or the wires are too small. G |

I have had the experiance with Onan that the end terminals are all suspect to intermittent and or loss of contact. Both behind the panel with the start switch and also on the end of the buisness end on the gen there is a access cover where some wires terminate and I have seen loose. View every end terminal as suspect clean every one. |

With a fully charged battery and an alternate source of fuel all things being equal the generator should run. Be sure to keep the cooling exhaust off the bench. Isolate the output leads and once it's running smoothly adjust the governor to 61 HZ, no load. If it won't crank consult your Service Manual..I'm sure you didn't do an overhaul without one. By the way the DC leads to the slip rings are polarity sensitive. NCbob |
