Jeez, it is hard to believe it is this time of year already. June and July have just flown by, Aug is half over and soon we will be packing to head south for the winter. Again we will be gathering for a weekend of fall camping, cocktails, leaf peeping, and eating and eating and eating. There will also be the requisite tire kicking, bus tours and telling of conversion lies. Everyone is invited. Last year we even had a nice vintage camper and a frame up restored motor home. WHEN - We will gather Sept 24, 25 and 26 (Fri, Sat and Sun). Feel free to come early and stay later if you wish. I am pretty sure at this time that we will be there at least on Thur, maybe even earlier. WHERE - We will be at the Moose Lake City Campground, located about 45 minutes south of Duluth right off I-35. The park is located on 4th Street and Birch Avenue, between the lake and the high school. Their phone number is 218 485-4761. Please mention that you are with the Bus-Nuts when you call. The sites are nice and level, and there are plenty of them. Last years rates with electric and water hookups were 24.00 a night. I will check to see if this will apply this year and post back here. Sites with sewer hookups are also available, and of course there is a dump station there. Last year, we basically had the place to ourselves and it was nice and quiet. The camp ground sits right on the north end of the lake. It is a smaller campground, but since it will be later in the year, most of the seasonal folks will be gone. Our block of sites will be very close to the shower and bathroom building, which were very clean. There are also tent camping sites available. Being next door to the school, there is a nice playground close by for the kids. And 1 block out of the campground is the bike trail system that will offer many miles of nice riding on the different trails. On the south side of the campground is the City Park, which has a nice swimming beach with changing and rest rooms. We have set aside a block of sites at the back of the camp ground. They do not take credit cards, but will take your reservation and hold your spot for you, and you can pay them when you arrive. We have been talking about the meals. Last year we did pot luck meals and it worked out very well. This year we may try to organize that a bit more. Please give us a few more days, and we will have something worked out. This is pretty laid back, so i know it will all work out just fine. If i missed something, or if you have questions or suggestions, please let me know. |
