I bought my water and waste tanks without fittings so I could put them in where I wanted them, when I found out where I wanted them. Now I discover that my source for the fittings and the tools to spin them in only has fittings. Does anyone out there have a source of the tooling I need to spin weld these fittings into my poly tanks? Thanks for any help you can give me Dale MC8 |

If your handy you can make the stuff to do it. You will need to make a jig for your router to spin the fitting, then a jig to keep the spinning fitting in the same place on the tank. Spin the fitting at full speed for about 30 seconds (you don't need to exert a lot of pressure, just let it spin and enough pressure to keep in down), practice a couple of times and you will see when the melting takes place, then shut the router down and be still till it goes solid. |

Also Check the Archives, there is a link put in here from Craig and gives very good advice on the construction of plastic tanks. |

I installed fittings and repaired leaky spun-on fittings in my poly tanks using a hand held plastic welder. --Geoff '82 RTS CA |

I just tried the address and it still works for me. The fitting install is way down the page, but if you can not get the page loaded... those long URLs are somtimes a pain, try this= http://www.gumpydog.com/bus/index.htm *then click on "Bus Conversion Project Site Map" in the upper left corner *then scroll down to "Plumbing" and click on "Holding Tanks" The page is BIG, very long and lots of photos (they are thumbnails, click on them to get full size) I could critique the Page but I have no room to talk because I seldom go to such extreame effort! A GREAT site, thanks Craig! if Craig didn't "Copyright 2001, 2002, 2003 Craig Shepard, GumpyDog.com" I would make a mirror on my site |
