I have a MC8 crusader, and just bought a bunch of newer seats to put in it. problem is that my seats mount to a channel on the wall, and a channel on the edge of the isle... it appears that the newer seats mount to the floor right between the 2 seats, and rest on a upside down "T" bracket / leg, my seats now mount to the floor on the very edge, with 2 skinny legs that bolt to a channel. I got a great deal on these new seats, and it was a pain to get them, is there any way to make these new seats fit in my older bus? every mc-8 i have seen (and all newer busses) have the center mount seats, I have no idea how i got stuck with these odd-ball isle-mount seats... Can i just add a center mount channel and screw it to the ground? Are the mounts on the wall going to be the same? Can i just pull out the isle channel and move it to the middle? how are these channels held in? does anyone have a channel they want to sell or donate? |

I dont know about odd-ball. Best bet is to get the seats out of an mc8. Im sure someone wants to get rid of some or someone knows someone. |

Did or does your MC8 have the isle mount seats? The seats i bought were supposedly from an MC8... and i have looked at a few other MC8's and many photos online, and mine is the only one i have seen with the 2-legged isle mounted seats. Everyone else i have seen has the single center mounted T-bar brace. That is why i say odd-ball. guy a few towns over had some seats for sale... they were center mounted, couple people online too, also center mounted. Just seems odd that no one else has my style. And sticking with MC8 seats makes it rather unlikely i will ever get much of an upgrade. Mostly just more people selling the same old worn seats i already have. Bill, Do you know of anyone selling seats? (or seat mounting channels) |

Are you still keeping the bus as a passenger mover? |

Our '73 MC-8 had the "2 legged" seats. I think these were used on the early MC-8s. Later 8s had the single center post style seat. Jack |

Ken - OEM seats for the MCIs were either made by National or American. What you have are called "aisle-mount" as opposed to "pedestal mount". GMC also used aisle-mount seats during the same time frame, by the same manufacturers. So don't rule out looking at GM Buffalos for what you need. The floor track is welded to the baggage bay bulkheads - have to remove the entire floor to get them out. You have an interesting challenge, to say the least! FWIW & HTH. . .
