My Brother gave me the old dish from his Prevost but someone cut the wires and removed the controls I can't find a name on the thing anywhere. It has one coax and an 8 pin conector. How many difernt dishes are there? Thanks Rick |

Many names same dish basically. What you are interested in is the feedhorn. There are dual LNB, single LNB, Low temp LNB. You can even use a small KU-Band dish for Direct & Dish as long as you have the right LNB. Lorna |

If you are talking about the mount you probably have a Moto-Sat. |

As Gary says, in all likelyhood you have a Moto-Sat since until recently they were the most common of the signal seeking systems. Along with the dish itself, you will need a receiver with a low-speed data port, which does not come with all recievers (usually u have to buy a more upgraded receiver to get this port). It is for a feedback between the dish and receiver and that is the purpose of the 8-pin DIN connector. 2nd most likely maker is Datron. Assuming this to be an earlier unit, it will probably not give u optimum service for DISH 500 but should work fine for Direct TV. It will also work for DISH, but will have to move btwn 2 satellites, depending on what u choose to watch. If u get the FMCA magazine, try contacting one of the advertisers in the back that deal in satellite equipment. They should be able to get u going with parts |
