We are about to put a couple of roof vents in our MC9, and have noticed that there are about equal white and tinted vents on the RVs, would some of you please let us know what color roof vents you used, and why? |

If you are talking about the glass, I found that tint will get warm. White seems to stay coolest but you cant see out. I put in boat hatches, and they were safety glass tinted light grey. I had a company tint them with a mirror type film and the bus stays cool. The film reflects the heat right out. This is fact that is seen after opening the hatch, and the hatch creates quite a breeze when open, very happy with them. cd |

Have you seen campers choice website? I just got an E Mail from them telling me about a sale on their roof vent covers. $10.00 for two. I'm ordering the pair myself. The website link is http://www.camperschoice.com/cgi-bin/more_info.pl?order_id=&cust_id=&group_id=3185 I have been ordering from them since I had a pop up camper. They are quick and nice to deal with. Jeff "Take Another Road" <-- Jimmy Buffett Rustless not Busless in Buckroe 1988 TMC RTS-06 da Bubba |

Oops, I meant $10.00 off their usual price. The price is $35.99 a pair. Sorry, I hope I didn't cause any heart failure! Jeff "Take Another Road" <-- Jimmy Buffett Rustless not Busless in Buckroe 1988 TMC RTS-06 da Bubba |

I dont have the name brand available at this time, they are the same as sold in West Marine Catalog. These were an older model, I assume DISCONTINUED, as I found them at a boat discount/and salvage shop. They buy parts never used, tear down boats that failed quality control, that type of deal. (YOU SHOULD SEE what they have in there!) My hatches are 22" by 22" measuring from the edge of the lip to lip. They were brand new and I think I paid $99 apeice. new, they would approach the 200 dollar mark and I couldnt afford that. They are molded white plastic (come in aluminum too) and the glass is safety glass with a grey tint. They were in excellant condition and some come with screens, these didnt but wont be a problem to make. With the mirror type tinting I had added, they admit no heat, only light and when you open them up, there is such a breeze created from them. I didnt expect them to ventilate so well but I have been pleasantly surprised. These hatches are built much more sturdy than the RV type vents, and I prefer the glass window over the plastic. I don't expect to ever have to replace them, I have had to replace every vent top on my RV atleast once, my last were replaced with Fantastic vents and they have lasted forever but I see they are beginning to fog up now too. The plastic is still sturdy just foggy. I was going to see if they would buff out but been too busy on the bus to persue that end. You might try looking at a boating parts or salvage shop and see what they have. I think you would like what you see. cd |
