Ordered all new diaphams for my pots, cleaned and rebuilt every thing. Yesterday I was pushing down on the smaller spring with my hand and, to my suprise, it broke. Any idea where I can get new ones? I'm thinking I should replace all the springs as they all had signs of r**t. Or is now the time to upgrade to spring brakes and how difficult is it?

Springs can break just like anything else. Which spring? The one that pushes the nylon washer against the rollers? The GM part number for that one is 3858073. The big return spring is GM number 3858066. The next to the smallest spring which holds the seal in place on the diaphram side is GM 668309. The smallest spring that goes under the metal cap you twist to lock is GM number 668314. If they are seriously rusty, I'd replace them. They aren't that costly and replace them while still available. You should be able to get these at Mohawk Bus Parts under the GM part numbers. When I ordered my DD3 parts, you had to talk to a guy on the phone. In fact, I am rebuilding mine now; finished one last night. Have had parts cleaned up and replacement components on hand for last 2 years.Getting anxious to get new(to us) coach on the road, now that I sold the 4104.

Rebuild,Rebuild. It is a pain to put springs on anything that has DD3 on it. Lots of time and hoses.

Roger; My 04 has spring brakes on and I do like that but the PO spent a lot of money to plumb it in and then they are right up within an 1 in of the bulkhead so you have to cut a hole in it to access to chamber if needed.

They are actually easy to plumb in. To access the spring caging bolt, move the leveling valve arm after disconnecting it to raise back of coach and you can insert bolt/tool.
Unfortunately, no one makes a maxi chamber short enough to fit the newer GM models, which have less clearance between the mounting bracket and the bulkhead, so we have to stick with the dd3's.
