haha! Gomer are you tryin to score points now LOL!!! Im really starting to get serious about getting a VW bus toad. Im thinkin it would be cool if it were an electric ev one and the batteries could do double duty by being the house batteries as well. And it could be painted and stuff to match the coach!

It is too far from me though... and has a purdy new paint job. I need something done in early american recycle to match my bus. I found a vw sitting right around the corner from me yesterday. It has been parked for 10 years, the engine and tranny are in a million pieces scattered in different boxes inside the vw, and there is lots of surface rust on it...... this may actually be what I need lol

Teresa,
My boss has a Nice little VW engine sitting here that's been upgraded... a lot.
It was built to put into a dune buggy, but that job has never happened, even though the chassis is just waiting for the implant.
He might make you a great deal on the engine and transmission.
I was thinking about using it in another Dune buggy, but haven't gotten to that either.
On thew engine that you see, laying in pieces, don't give much for it if the jugs have been removed. They were taken off for a reason.
Check to see if there was an aftermarket oil filter ever installed.... Many of the old VW's didn't have much more than a filter screen in the sump as a filter.

Thanks Dallas! I will keep that in mind! But before I do anything rash (like spend cash cuz Im cheep) Im currently exploring the possibilities of making an electric VW bus instead of a combustion engine. My thoughts on it are that the batteries which power the VW could serve double duty to power the house system on my bus/rv. The alternator on my bus could be hooked up to the VW bus to power the batteries on the VW and then fed back to the RV to power the house stuff. The VW could be towed 4 on the ground or on a trailor since it is a standard. And when parked at a campground the VW could be plugged in to recharge or used for short range driving around town. If boondocking the VW batteries could be hooked up to a generator I suppose....

I havent got my heart set on anything (especially another project) but I am exploring the possibilities right now...
