Anyone remember the math formula for determining the startability and gradability of a coach? I don't. Same as an 18 wheeler. If I remember correctly, it deals with neat stuff such as idle torque, power, gearing, weight, grade, altitude and temp and stuff. I would like to figue out how steep of grade my Crown can handle. Dog, Henry's Crown has a pancake Cummins big cam 4 stroke, not a Detroit 2 stroke. Now if there's anyone out there that knows how to lay that series 60 on its side and make it work..... Jim | ||

Just cut a hole in the floor, install the motor standing up and design the floor plan so that a closet is over the motor. I have seen a couple of old buses like that, both were Brills. One had an old V-6 GMC motor inside the kitchen sink unit in the middle of the bus. You gained access to one side of the motor in the kitchen and the other side from a door in the bathroom area. Tom on another board helped me out greatly. My Crown will handle a 18% starting grade at 32,500 pounds at sea level and cool conditions. Believe it or not, that is one problem with the RTO-910 10-speed Roadranger tranny...first gear is only 6.27 to one. Not really low enough. Too many gears too close together for slow steep hill climbing. Fine for the highway though cruising at Warp 8. CROWNS FOREVER!! |
