I took my bus for a drive today, only to get it out of the drivway on to the street and then got out to check aroud the bus and saw a big oil leak and a puddle fo oil under the engine. I opened the passenger side engine door an saw oil squarting out of the 1-1/2" hose on top of the transmission. I replaced the hose with a new one and now I need to replace the oil that I lost.
I am asking for some advice on what kind of oil to use. Is it regular auto type ATF oil or somthing else? I would very much appreciate any advice I can get. Thanks, Roger

Wow, you are lucky like I was. If you read my "Broke down in Raton, di$$aster averted" thread on the MAK board back in July, buy a lotto ticket since you captured this before a meltdown. I dumped 21 quarts before I just happen to stop at a convenience store to get a bite to eat. I had to take my radiator out to get to one fitting on my hose. I replaced all three while I had the bus torn up.

Post your tranny brand and someone will jump in with the correct fluid.

Regular ATF, I keep several gallons, wally-world type, just for leakage problems or if a hose goes. I use it in both PS an trans. All the allisons 644's, HT70, HT740's that I worked on used regurar ATF. While your at it change that filter on the outside of the trans, if it has not been changed in a long time,spin-on is same as engine oil filter, same for canister type but you may not get the correct gasket.
