On my MCI 1984, the turn signal stoped working during a trip to a shop to get the airing up problem I have. The turn signal light on the dash, lights up and stays on when I turn the signal on but will not flash. Same for the emergency signal falshers. Any advice on where to start finding the problem would be greatly appreciated. Roger

On most MCI's the flasher units are in your compartment on the left of your legs.LOL I foun that putting the flasher on the outside was easier. I have found some with the flasher located up in the left corner of the dash tho. I believe it is a 3-prong flasher too. Napa usually has them in 12 volt but can order 24 if needed.

Roger -

On most MC-7s, 8s, and 9s, the turn signal flasher is clipped to a bracket on the lower portion of the driver's side windshield post, but under the dash.

It's located just about even and to the left of where your foot would be if you were to rest it on the clutch pedal.

However, the flasher may not be at fault. Check to see if you've got a burned out bulb - IIRC, a steady dashboard idiot light is MCI's way of telling you there's an exterior light out.

Just like in Gm cars, you have a bad bulb or poor connection. Clean sockets and bulbs and coat brass bulb base liberally with a coat of grease, including contacts.

I had the same problem with my 9.The flasher which is behind an access door at the front drivers side outside the bus needed replacing.

I found the flasher. It is in the conpartment on the outside of the bus just under the drivers window behind the second door. The label reads (relay- flasher) It is a square glass device with about 8 prongs and about 2 or so inches long. My question is where can I get a new one besides MCI?

Roger -

Call Luke @ US Coach in NJ: 1-888-262-2434 between 9 - 5, M-F, Eastern.

Reasonable prices and great service. Has probably forgotten more about buses than all the collective knowledge on this site. With plastic money, he'll have one (or two - spare?) on it's way same day.

Strong supporter of the busnut community, support those who support us!

Sorry if I sent you on a slightly wild goose chase for that flasher - the MCI's I worked with had them inside the coach, not in the exterior compartment you found yours. So maybe that was one of those little things that happens when each bus is custom ordered!

Another good source of parts is a "good" NAPA store. Some are great and can get alot of your needs.
