Hey everyone,
Just wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone that are bus nuts as well. My girlfriend and I just purchased a previously converted 4106 that needs a lil TLC. We have quickly fallen in love with it and enjoy the DIY projects. We've been traveling by motorcycle for the past couple years and upgraded a couple weeks ago. Soon we will be heading to the Phoenix area for a few years for school. I really enjoy reading these post and thoughts for future plans with the '06. So thanks for the posts already and looking forward to helping if i can. Wish ya'll a good day where ever ya are.

Lee -

Welcome to the madness. The 4106 is one of the most under-appreciated coaches that ever earned it's living in revenue service. With good routine preventative maintenance, it should give you years of dependable enjoyment.

FYI, PD4106-1267 was delivered new as fleet number 6315 to Southern Greyhound Lines sometime between May and July of 1962. It was part of a 75 bus order placed by the Chamblee, GA division of 'Hound. My guesstimate is that it was delivered in May, as it's one of the early VINs of that group. So you can legitimately tell folk that you own/operate a "jen-u-wine" retired Greyhound Bus!

You didn't say, but in case you don't already, you need a copy of the Operator's Manual, the Parts Book, the Maintenance Manual, the Maintenance Manual Supplement and, as an option, the shop manual for the Detroit 8V71. All these should be in your bus's "library".

Also, save this number to your cell phone: 1-888-262-2434. That's the number for Luke at US Coach in NJ. Luke has probably forgotten more about GMC buses than all the collective wisdom on this and the other big bus message boards. Service available at his facility, or reasonably priced parts can be on their way to you the same day with plastic money. Luke's a STRONG supporter of the busnut community, so support those who support us!

If you haven't already, you might also want to search for and join the GMC busnuts group on Yahoo, as well as the BBS associated with Bus Conversions Magazine (busconversions.com).

Photos would be nice, too! Upload some to photobucket or similar and post a link here.

You might also indicate where you're located, other busnuts may be in your area.

Again, welcome aboard!

FWIW & HTH. . .

:-)
