Hi.

I have a 1987 Bluebird with a 8v92TA and Allison 741 (electronic version of the 740).

Tranny is going to need replacement soon. Are there any 5 speed automatics that will drop in repalce?

Also has to have retarder provision to replace the current 741 with retarder.

Thanks.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but why would u want to replace it w/a 5 spd.? All u gain is a granny gear that u really don't need.

Many years back we switched to five speeds and than went back to the 741. The upshifts are smoother on a 740/741 versus the five speed although the downshifts still have a lot to be desired. jc
