Thanks to all who answered my last post on my water pump that cycled every five minutes. I checked for leaks first, replaced the the street inlet valve and still the same problem. I removed the pump today and took off the end to look at the check valve. The problem seemed to be that the pump was sucking in air where the end unit screwed and bolted on the rest of the pump.I put vaseline on the O rings and also coated the exterior seam where the pump went back together with silicone. I am not sure what fixed it but it works great now. Peace and quiet! |

Just a little tech note: Vaseline is a petroleum product, and will accelerate the deteriorization of rubber O-rings. Better to use a silicone or teflon O-ring lubricant/grease, available at your neighborhood swimming pool supply store, among other sources. RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |
