My RTS steers with one finger (forefinger, not middle). Your 4104 being a lot lighter it should really be easy to turn. I don't think you can adjust the pump-- the spring in the pump would be a pressure relief spring, not an output pressure spring. Also, you should be using 10w-30 wt oil, or even straight 30 wt oil, not Dexron.

I have not seen where 10w30 oil is recomended for power steering, would it not depend on what kind of steering is involved? ive seen straight 10wt and dextron.

It is recommended in the GMC RTS manual and there is also a decal on the power steering resevoir on all RTS that states use 10w-30 or 10w-40. The local steering gear shop says 30wt is okay also.

UPDATE: I just looked in my manual and it states in bold letters "DO NOT TO USE DEXRON OILS IN POWER STEERING SYSTEM" (section 9-13, RTS '04 Manual)

Hi Frank:
I assume, when your 4106 was converted to Sheppard steering, that the proper pump was also installed???

The fact of the matter is that your Sheppard system uses motor oil and not ATF.

To get ATF out will require some effort, but get it out and replace it with motor oil.

I Hope this HELPS!!! and have a GREAT!!! weekend.
