How Tight do you tighten the fuel filters on an Eagle 8V71? I put mine on pretty tight but not REAL Tight. I have heard different opinions. RonR. |

Rub diesel on the rubber gasket ,tighten as tight as you can with one bare hand,be sure you fill with diesel first & start the engine & check the filters for leaks |

I always tighten hand tight as I can and then give it one half turn with the filter wrench. |

Hand tight is the general rule, however, mechanics that use their hands to grip all day have more hand strength than the guy that types all day. For this reason I suggest you tighten by hand and then give another quarter turn with the filter wrench. Be sure to lube the gasket with fuel before instaling so the rubber don't catch when turned and ripple creating a leak. Same with oil filters. John 4104 |
