Seeing as how SOME people think that our (especially mine) bus "conversion" should be left completely stock and kept to look like a "bus" I am glad to announce that I acquired a very good pair of mirrors. The shiny ones, not painted! A fellow bus nut found 2 pair and offered me a pair for a REALLY rediculous low price and I couldn't refuse! They are complete and even came with one problem. The actual base doesn't fit MY bus. After checking the usual sites along with looking at OEM and coming up empty or better yet, without emptying my wallet, I decided to whip out my parts CD from Prevost. They offer the exact mounting base for my bus in chrome, paint and polished aluminum. Hmm, so I called my buddy Charlie and told him of my dilemna and asked him to check their pricing on chrome or polished, since I already have painted, in their stock. They don't have them in stock but he would check their vendor and get back with me. That was yesterday and today he calls me to say, they have to be made. The chrome sells for $339.00 EACH and the polished are $66.00 each. Guess which ones I ordered? They will be made in about a week and shipped to Prevost in NJ, then to me. The whole process should take about two weeks or so.
I had thought about milling my bases down to the correct radius for my bus but what the heck, too much work for what it's worth. Now, had the polished bases been a lot more money, I would have been chucked up in the mill quick!

Also Saturday, I will be working on our new bathroom medicine cabinet design and hopefully that will be installed next week!

Then finish up designing and building our outdoor entertainment center hopefully all done before bussin

Finally, things are coming together again...

Glad to hear of the progress and I think the polished ones would be easier to maintain since some chrome plated units after time will peel off and then you have the same thing!! GOOD JOB!!

Hi Ace,

Good find - glad to see that your luck is holding up. The price you received from Prevost for the mirror transition pieces is very nice, indeed!

In my case, there were no transistion pieces available for the aftermarket mirrors to fit onto my RTS. After two days work, several fits, a similar amount of wasted stainless steel and, another few hours of polishing, there appeared two matching transitions arms.

Sixty Dollars! I have that much in polishing wheels!

Resource is EVERYTHING, especially if you maintain a relationship with that source !
ACE, you're making me GREEN with envy
(over the base price...not that you own one of those rolling Palaces, after all, I own THE Corvette of Coaches!)

Success is it own reward for us....the only thing sweeter is rollin down that road.
(or for you..looking in the those mirrors at everything behind you)

One question tho..... about your "outdoor entertainment center"
did I miss the memo?
Do the outdoors need entertainment now?
Is this like that Global Warming thing.....
do you get Carbon Credits or a tax break like for Solar Systems?
OR
are you just providing music for the animals to dance to?

Maybe I should consider a stripper for my deck....eh?
now THAT would be outdoor entertainment!

Well Jack I have purchased quite a bit of stuff from Prevost and they have become to know me pretty good. It helps when you deal with the same guy over and over.

As for the entertainment center? We like to at times, and weather permitting, sit out under our awning either listening to or playing music or watching TV. We have found at almost every rally we go to or have gone to in the past that almost everyone goes in their coach soon after dinner for the night. The rallies soon become ghostly and boring! Sorry but that isn't my style! Granted I go in at night but not at 7pm.
Now the thought of a stripper on the deck is a pretty good one and I might have to get with Nick about a deck but I would first have to either get another bus or talk Susan into letting this happen. I would have a better chance on winning the lottery on either of those happening if you know what I mean! :-)

1991 my good friend (RIP) Alyn Charpentier had the boat next to mine in Huntington harbor at Knutson's marina. Al was a pilot and always bringing home stray girls who all seemed to work at the local strip clubs. Al had a 50' catamaran hulled houseboat that was huge including the upper deck where he had dancing girls one memorable night. Most of us loved it but one liveaboard's wife complained. Sorry, not bus related but i hadent thought of that in a long time. Smiling ear to ear right now.

How about some photos of your work and upgrades?

Did you know that Alene and Charlie over there at Prevo Elgin are married?

Yup and they met at work too. Charlie has been to the annuall 9 day factory authorized service semenars right at the factory, probably some of the others in that office have as well. Many of their prices are competitive but some items are totally overpriced. When you are getting something different I have learned the hard way to first price those items around.

Overall a great resource.
