Where on my stock 4104 air system do I put in air line antifreeze?
How do I put it into the system?

Do I need to have an airline lubricator to lubricate the air assist clutch valve/cylinder and radiator shutter-stat and cylinder?

There should be an assembly above top center of engine that filters and lubricates the air going to the shutter control in the housing that contains the thermostats. There is a hex plug on the top of this assembly. Remove the plug and put in about two ounces of shutter stat fluid. The fluid reservoir has a wick that transfers fluid to the filter pads in the other side of the unit. The filtered air passes through the filter pads and picks up fluid vapor and sends it through the temperature control sensor on to the shutter control unit.
Bendix makes a low cost alcohol injector. Consists of a glass bottle and cap with built in mounting bracket. BTW, Bendix doesn't recommend alcohol in the air system any more. Claims it degrades the rubber components.(check their site) They prefer an air drier instead, although it is still used for extreme conditions, and people like Fred. There have been lively posts about this subject in the fast. A truck stop will probably have the alcohol and a heavy duty truck parts store can get the alcohol injector or check Ebay.

I made up a pipe with air fittings on each end.
I fill the pipe with air line antifreeze (alcohol). hook up one end to the coach and the other end to my shop compressor. I only do this when I have been using the shop compressor to air up the coach and have gotten moisture in the system. Better to get an air dryer.
Our old MC5A had an alcohol sniffer in line. I don't recommend them as I had a lot of problems with the rubber air lines. I can't guess what it would have been doing to the air bags

Shutter stat fluid is still available, and still being used here in Toronto on the GM 5307's that are still earning their keep.

Never think to check what's written on the rectangular quart can. Blue in colour....

I'll try to remember to get the details.

happy coaching!

Well then.... I guess I'll look into getting an air dryer of some sort.

The one thing I had to remove was the Assembly that John is talking about. It was leaking air badly. I assumed it was a filter of some kind so I replaced it with a filter/regulator. Because the the original shutter actuator was not on the bus I installed/adapted a more standard air cylinder to activate the shutters.

I guess I will need to install a lubricator after the filter/regulator so the components will get some lubrication.
Do you think I should run the air for the Air assist clutch on the lubricator also?

Mine does not get any lube either, except for whatever the compressor passes.
