Way to Go Joe!
I love it.
Too bad that the tile and spacers cost more than my whole bus did! I still love it!

NICE WORK JOE!
A professional job, great material & good photo's!
The pattern work & LED's on the entry is a show stopper.
You certainly can stand tall with pride over the whole job.
It's motivation for all of us....thanks!

Joe, this looks very nice you can be quite proud,
I put tile in ours but am having trouble holding some of the grout. I have been told a flexable grout is made , will be looking for some this spring. What did you use? Or have you had grout trouble.

The floor is 1 in plywood to start from Prevo.

I added 1/2 in backer board. If your floor has any bounce at all go thicker it is not enough and you will have trouble. On the stairs the first step in is pretty solid to start so only the backer board works but on the rest of the treads up you need 1/2 ply and 1/2 backer board or the treads will flex. The landing at the top of the stairs also required some thickening and the step slide had to be modified down to accommodate that but if your starting from scratch that is not an issue.

I used The white mastic for marble and granite the grey will discolor on porous stone. I use whatever is on the shelf often flex is incorporated into the product name but I am using conventional home construction products.

Sanded grout. I believe most normal grout has some latex incorporated into it

I have tried latex grout and did not like it

I did the stairs and cockpit on ours all the way back to the backs of the front seats including the little bit of Isle directly between the seats pulled both seats.

Found St-croix brown granite for 2 bucks a square. Total cost of tile mastic grout backer board, 200 bucks. Would have cost plenty to have it done and it would not have been done any better.

Minus the details good weekend project

Tile is a great medium it is very forgiving to work with. Granite and marble cut very easily. I did all my floors with the same 69 dollar wet saw from home depo it still has the original blade. You wold be amazed how wonderfully it cuts.

I do not use a guide but rather freehand the cuts.

Stick painters trim tape to the stone to be able to easily make your cutting marks with pencil and they are easily seen when cutting too.

Our shower basin is too flat I am going to pitch it more by putting in a tile mosaic. I decided this after a recent trip to century tile and found they want 350 bucks for them 2ft square. I can make 3 from misc. scraps!

Joe Thank you very much, my wife picked a kind of camel colored tile and I like you bought the 69 dollar saw. The saw and blade lasted thru my job. I did from the second step in thru the bathroom. We travel with fifteen to twenty pug dogs and their nails seem to dig into the grout a little and here and there the shake loosens some of the grout. I have been told I can buy flex grout in a tube like caulk. We do like living with the tile.
Thanks Larry

When you are adding water to grout it is more finicky than when you are mixing the mastic.

Once you get to the point where the grout is just about right a very little more water becomes too much.

My suggestion when mixing the grout is add the water in very small increments and try to keep it stiffer rather than runny. When it is runny it shrinks more as it dries and it is not as strong. I have seen overwatered grout cracked up the day after drying from shrinkage.

Another tip to good grout lines is do not over-apply the mastic around the edges of the tile. The larger the void you leave between things the bigger the stronger the joints will be.

I find my grout holds up better with sanded grout for wide joints and non-sanded for the standard 1/8 space the non-sanded shrinks for me on a wide joint

good luck

...next stop,
the 7 Linseed Oil variations vs Metallic additives elements...

Jack they were previousy there although with the steps being molded fiberglass it would not be too hard to do from scratch.

Here is the post for the stairs and cockpit we did on ours.

Joe thanks again for all the good info, all I know about tile and grout is what I picked up from doing a bathroom and paying attention to all info from goood people.
I would take pictures but can't get them small enough to know what the picture is about.
It will be spring before I can get down to work on the coach. So thanks again Joe and alll else for the help.

Some one needs to write down the exact simple instruction for resizing a photo....
IN A NEW THREAD

I'd have done it already but I don't know or have access to a Gates dominated machine or software.
With Mac's it's as simple as call up the pic
select tools
select resize
select the new size you want
select SAVE AS
change the name by adding an "R" to the name before the dot.
(so you know it is the smaller version R for resized)
save to your desktop or where ever

Windows must be pretty close to that....they hate it when they have to play "catch-up" to the competition.

Jack I am sure it is easy, except I am dealing with my computer ineptness and a windowns 98 computer, that takes me half an hour just to post. Between dogs and Dr. can't seem to get enough ahead to fix the later and I know there is no way I can improve.
