I'm going to try this again. I am in Lexington KY. I need to have my MC8 steering converted and I am not in a position to do it myself. What I am asking you guys for now is a recommendation for a good shop that could possibly do the work that is within 3-4 hours of me. Major cities are Columbus OH, Nashville, TN, Knoxville,TN or maybe even Chattanooga TN. My original plan was to go to Caylor's in Kansas but that is almost 12 hours away. I need a place closer. I'd rather go south this time of year than north but I really need a place that has done this before and knows what they are doing.

Seems like there used to be a shop database on one of these bus boards but I cannot find it now.

Thanks in advance.

Dallas: I was born and raised in Chattanooga and still have some family there... haven't been back in years though. Hopefully someone will come up with a place a bit closer, if not, I'll give them a call.

Ed, Marvin, Russell, and others -

Bus Ride magazine is the publisher of the "Bus Garage Index", printed annually.

www.busride.com is the web page, a link to the index is in the LH menu. Well worth the investment!

FWIW & HTH. . .

Hi RJ,

I looked that site all over and did a search as well - no mention of Bus Garage Index. Do you have another source?

Please mention that you found their add in “The Bus Pages”

You can go here = http://www.busbook.com

I think I got mine from = http://www.rv-busconversions.com/catalogReference.html
Or here = http://www.busnuts.com/mega_links.htm

Maybe Ian used to sell them can’t remember.

From Steve Kane, Publisher/Editor in Chief of Busride Magazine:

The Bus Garage Index is in limbo at this moment. It no longer has an OEM supplier buying bulk customized copies, which previously had supported the printing of additional copies which were sold to individual buyers. It will likely reappear in a digital format sometime in 2011, but I can’t be more specific than that as the programming for such an endeavor has not yet begun.

Once we have the mechanics sorted out, we will require some time to update the listings. So, some time in 2011 is the best answer I can give you right now. We will announce the dates as soon as we have them.

Thanks for your interest and your kind words.

Best regards,

Steve Kane

I wonder if we could somehow make up our own list of bus service places. I know of a few here in Edmonton that should be on the list.
I am sure that busnuts all over north America could go a long way towards a fair resource list.
I am not computer savvy enough to put it together but maybe someone would take on the project?
Just an idea

As a follow up... talked to Fred Hobe last week. I have scheduled for him to do the steering conversion sometime after the first of the year. It is about as far there as it is to go to Kansas, but it'll be warmer this time of year going south...also Fred made me an offer that I could not pass up. It seems he is retiring. A great guy to talk to. I hope to learn a lot from him while I am at his place working on the steering.
