I've come into possession of 3 old, but nice condition CO2 tanks.
The boss wants them gone... like yesterday.
These are size T or H tanks, (550 cu ft or 640 cu ft).
About 9 1/2" across and around 52" tall, plus the valve.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in them to supplement their rolling lobe conversion from the airbeams in MCI's or GMC's?
It seems to me these would supply a great cushion for the air bags to work with and help re-establish that soft, squishy, foundering whale like ride all of you airbeam owners seem to cherish.
they could be mounted in a bay or hung up somewhere if you could find the room, then large, (3/4"?) air lines run from each bag. Am I missing any reason this wouldn't work?
These are made of steel and heavy, so if anyone wants one or more, you'll have to come get them.
If there is any interest, I'll put them on the classified ad section at a low low price and hide them in my us so the boss doesn't see them anymore.

Here's a link to approximate sizes, (PDF file):
http://mercurymed.com/catalogs/BDR_TechnicalInformation.pdf?phpMyAdmin=8bad005e4170814880e 9a1aebf2262f1

I also have a horizontal propane tank that came out of a Motorhome. I think it's probably about 40 gallon, but it's too cold to go down and look today!

I guess I over estimated.
According to the tag, it holds 78.4 lbs of LPG.
At 4.3 lbs per gallon, that would be around 18+ gallons.
At 4.1 lbs. per gallon, that would be 19+ gallons.

It all depends on where you buy your propane. Up north has less butane and farther south has more.

Tank size is 37 1/2" X 10 1/2" not counting the shield and the valves/fittings.

It also looks like it's about 3/8th full according to the gauge.

Naw, Les. It didn't HAVE to be... You could have made another post first elsewhere... But you decided to use up your 200th here... Perhaps that says more than ya might think, hmm? ;)

As for breathing on a frozen tongue... Dunno about you, but I have no plans to get close enough to a frozen tongue to breathe on it. I'll just go inside and get a glass of warm water. ;)

I was wondering if anyone else would see the draw back of going into the house for warm water while your tongue was still stuck to the power pole.
Jack has been uncustomary quiet on this topic.

Dallas, Seems like a good idea but i dont think that the tanks will work like that. it would take to much pressure wouldent it? Wouldent you need a large volume low pressure set up instead of small hi pressure tanks? It might work, i'm not a rocket doctor scientist but thinking about scuba tanks and extrol tanks on boilers and hot water tanks makes me think not.. I guess i have to go to Texas to meet you and your 03. Any chance you making it to Jacks for New Years? I think i know why you think outside the box, cause your bus is not a box! (have to have a round bus to get that one folks)

Not *MY* tongue. The "friend" who so elegantly got their tongue stuck to the pole in the first place... A few more minutes as a reminder why ya don't stick your tongue onto public objects might reinforce the idea to... I dunno.. Not do that again? ;)

EDIT: And David... Like mine? ^.^

**OK Fids
how the heck did I get into this? **

EASY..!!
I just checked the
"People not willing to be dragged into... List" &
your name wasn't on it.

**another run at our beautiful northern climate**

I'm interpreting that as possibly me showing disrespect for or to
everywhere North of 45 Degrees (which IS half way to the Pole after all).
Actually when one considers that I spend the 1st 37 yrs in MN Plus 5 near the South Pole
...all willingly mind you &
walked to school &
who's frostbite still flares up when it's 120 degrees in the StinkinHot,

I think my card still says "Dues Paid"...

Maybe I am pokin fun at me as well.
It wouldn't be fair if I couldn't take what I dish out
plus some
so I do it in a single action,
I rib the other guy as well as myself.
Hell, if I had half a clue
would I willingly mix with FooHorse..?

Let's see where am I ..
oh yeah
skip whatz hiz name
and
.
.
.

It's Les again!!
** hang him by his tongue from a frozen metal power pole**

(roll-eyes here)
From the bottom of the pole
or
the top??
I mean it's one thing to just stand there
Like a Newfie stuck to a pole
and something else again to be
flying in the breeze like a Union Jack on Dominion Day...
EH..?
I'll give
you an "Atta-Boy!" as well
for not suggesting that my pants
be in the proximity of my ankles, in either case!

There's a 2nd component to your statement tho...
my Tongue....
You've been around the woods more than once Les,
know know Little people always have 4 other traits
Big Ideas
smart mouths
fast feet &
they're "cute".

I'll plead Guilty to 3 of the 5
which ever 2 you think are appropriate!
(sorry "Big Idea's is obvious)
But before you pick let me remind you that it is my FINGERS
that commit any offense
not the smart tongue!

SO
If THAT'S the case,
I might willingly submit,
while wearing thermal Lace
provided
it's the fingers that get stuck to the pole
and that Foohorse is the one who has to lick'em !!

That way Mac would be able to hold his lunch
and he'd have something "Pretty" to look at..!

(pretty nifty how it all ended ...eh
see what happens when I ride in the back seat
and the fingers do all the drivin?)
;)

On the MC-8, the opening from the top of the air bag into the air beam is about 2 1/2-3" to allow quite a bit of volume. I think that if an external tank was used it would need to be plumbed with 2 1/2-3" tubing to allow rapid exchange of enough volume. But those tanks should be good for something. Jack

Jack,
That's interesting.
I think I've seen some Prevosts or maybe newer MCI's with tiny little tanks attached to the air bags to effectively increase the volume of air transferred.
Plus, considering that with the small line that is coming from the leveling valve, the small volume that the airbag itself can hold isn't really all that much, any cushion that could be added seems like it could only help.
Other than using these for auxiliary air tanks, or maybe a passive solar water heating system, I'll probably just cut them up and toss them in the scrap pile.

I heard it on good authority
that a certain former TOWEL BOY @ the Ft.Lauderdale YMCA
stole his spray bottle when he was discharged...
but I'm sure
that has no relationship to anyone HERE from that area,
who also happens to have detailed knowledge of the steam room there.....

nice guy to drag poor ol Les into this,
I know Les is a man of tremendous character
and held out for the top dollar before cavin in to your plot!
....how many more do you think you'll need to accomplish the task?
How many can you afford?
You gonna drag that Outlaw 4905 gang you belong to into it too?
sheeesh
whadda wimp!

Les...

OK
I plead guilty
to hi-jacking threads for silliness
on an InterNet Forum for serious people about their Silliness
....and mine.
I hope you got enough $$$$ from "TowelBoy"
to move to Panama where it warmer & closer to me, so I can swing by for a
cold one now & then....
.
.
.
Odd thing,
Mac hasn't returned
since his stomach reversed flow at the mention of my wearing lace.....
and this guy drives a BUS on public roads!

"I think I've seen some Prevosts or maybe newer MCI's with tiny little tanks attached to the air bags to effectively increase the volume of air transferred."

Prevost uses this design with a separate tank. The hose going between the air bag and the tank is approximately 1" or so, as I remember.

Oh, don't worry, Jack. I'm a man of many words, just on few occasions. :-)

And my stomach didn't reverse flow, I was just trying to find my camera... I'd imagine Playgirl might have some use for pics like that... I'm sure there are some fetishists out there that LOVE that sort of thing... I'm just not one of 'em!

I like George's idea... Penguincicle... I'd bring a sea lion to that party!

What, Me worry?
I don't subscribe to PlayGirl, so I have no clue there.
And out here a Fetish is something you wear around your wrist, ankle or neck,
not some back East behavior .
I'm unclear as to which group you "are not one of" tho...
fetishists or ones who love that sort of thing...

either way...
I still think you are hellava good guy
I don't care what everyone else says......
especially TowelBoy.

Penguincicle....
I think whotz-his-name has a secret plot that involves
a paper bag & a stick when he's thinking Penguincicle.
You guys are thinking in terms of ICE-sicle...
TowelBoy is imagining Popsicle....

Now do you see RJ the dangers of messing with dangerous things like heroin, crack, Ouija boards, Corvairs. You are obviously the rare individual that can Dabble and not be consumed but it should be painfully obvious where our friend jack is going. If I can't exorcise the Corvair demons then I guess its freeze and mount as an ornament on the grill of those ice road trucks, or Les I'm open to suggestions.

This thread gets to be more and more like an episode of The twilight zone... I mean the original one that didn't make any sense to anyone but was still entertaining as all get out.
I don't want to hear any more on ice roads or snow for a while guys
Traumatic day today, I drained and winterized the hot tub... In a snow fall I might add
Sounds like my parents stories of walking to school and back bare foot in 5 feet of snow, up hill, both ways.
Thank goodness we have a christmas cruise to look forward to.
Only 9 more days till daylight starts getting longer again.
