Has anyone used the free email that I@n was so kind to offer us busnuts? I have used it on occasion but suddenly started receiving spam emails. That's not a good thing since I only use that email from my phone and its only been maybe 3 times. Anyone else having these issues?

I haven't gotten any spam on mine but then I stay away from those sites that do that sort of thing.
And Ace.

Les,

How would Fred know, and why would you believe him?

George
What do you mean? " Don't tell Jack"

Dallas
Any reason I shouldn't believe Fred?. Jack tells me he is an expert.

Ace, it appears that Android hasn't gotten robust enough to be good at SPAM blocking. Most of the forums I've looked at recommend a spam blocker and an AV for your phone. Firefox and the addons seem to be the most popular.
Perhaps it's relevant for everyone to understand, if a website doesn't sell or rent out their email list, the spammers won't be able to get it.
Now, just because you have a good AV program on your personal computer, doesn't mean that your phone is also protected. You MUST provide protection for every connection you have!
Ace, I seem to remember you saying about the same thing when you went to the Raspberry, or was it a Gooseberry?
All was hunky and Dorey until you had problems. Then it was everyone's fault but yours.
There is no OS or browser in the world that will protect you if you allow the access.
Good Luck and God's speed to your quest.

... and straight from the horse's mouth... there should be nothing especially targetting my email server, Ace. I do occasionally check live with my server host to ensure all is well with email, but we're not immune.

If you have concerns about spam, and this is said with the knowledge that you have multiple streams of email from various web sites you own or are party to, I would subscribe to a pre-receive email spam filtering service such as Postini, http://www.google.com/postini/index.html. I subscribe to this service myself and find it well worth the small fee, which you can deduct as an expense against your company, of course.

Thanks for your question.

All the best to you and Susan for a very merry Christmas, my friend, from Maisie 'n' me.

Ian

Thanks I@n for the tip and a Very Merry Christmas and New Year to you and your family as well! Wishing you were able to come to the Bussin Rally this year but if you can't, maybe next year because I hear (from reliable sources) that it will be even bigger and better with much more to do and see not to mention buy! :-)

Uh Dallas, that would have been my Blackberry back in the day and I have since moved up to a HTC EVO and the spam I received was the ONLY one and it came thru on my BNO email account. I have yet to see one come thru on my other THREE email accounts. I STILL get the spam emails (about 50 or so) on my OLD email account that I never use anymore and am just waiting for the term of use to get expire. After that, that one will be done and over with! THAT account was the reason for me changing from it to the one I was using and still use occasionally but ever since getting this phone, I use the free Gmail account that comes with it more than anything else.
It's been so long since I saw ANY spam mail that when the one that DID and it was on my BNO account, I was prompted to ask the question if ANYONE else was starting to receive them as well. I didn't open the ONE I got. I merely deleted it and moved on!
So with that said, I THINK I have the spam situation well under control at least for the time being!
And Dave, your on your own with the spam. In fact you can have MY share when the plate gets passed! :-)
