Has anyone bought a Isuzu 8kw from Generator Quotes and if so how do you like it. I would also like to know about the Generac 75D Quietpack with the Perkins diesel engine. Thanks |

Gary I have not bought one yet. Amazingly I had just decided today to order an isuzu 8kw the same as you are considering. I haven't done it yet but am waiting on your feedback. They told me it produced sine wave--what ever that is--that it had a low oiland high temp shut down with a remote control. I don't know if it is a charger too or not. Please let me know if you can fill mer in anymore thanks Bob |

I bought the 10kw unit from generator quotes this spring. I love it. the 10kw used the same engine and was just a few bucks more... besides when I go to the real high country and it is over 120 degrees having all the AC power I can use is essential. Peter E |

$4950 delivered + $25 for liftgate service for a Isuzu Powered (3LB1)10 kw Diesel Generator see http://www.generatorquotes.com/order/1000TS.asp?page=1000TS they were OK to deal with but it took 3 weeks to get here... was drop shipped from Norpro in Chester, CT http://www.4norpro.com/ or http://www.4norpro.com/main.html FF said "BE very wary of Norpro, in the past I know folks that have had very poor service from them." I gather that Isuzu does not make the whole unit . Does the 5 year warranty mean parts and labor on the whole unit for 5 years? Or just the engine? Who makes the Gen. end ? |

gen quotes told me "The Isuzu Powered Diesel Generator features a 120/240 V Colisuem generator end. The generator end is rated for continous use and is comparable in quality with the Isuzu engine. The engine features a 5 year 5,000 hour warranty. The generator end features a one year warranty. The engine's warranty would honored with any Isuzu dealer/distributor. The generator end's warranty would be honored with most generator and/or electric motor shops." |

I was under the impresion that the warranty was 3 yrs. for the complete engine and the remaining 2 yrs. for major components. If the gen. end is comparable in quality then why doesn't it have a comparable warranty. I am not being negative just like to know what they are offering. |

Assemblers buy their components from the various manufacturers and assemble a complete system from the bits and pieces they buy. The warranty is always provided by the original manufacturer. I would be extremely cautious in buying this system as advertised due to the warranty description of the generator head. Most generator or electric motor shops will not warrant anything that they are not a distributor or service shop for. I have been in the generator business for many many years and I have never ever heard of this brand of generator and would in no way, shape or form consider working on it as a warranty repair. I strongly suspect that the generator is manufactured in China and it is very possibly junk at best. The below link is a very good example. http://gpsinformation.net/chinagen.htm Richard |

Purchasing engines (boat propulsion engines) from NO Pro has been very unrewarding . The Izusu is fine, the conversions were very cheaply done . Had a friend purchase a "matched pair" , they sent one newish unit and a 3 or 4 yeart old engine that had been parts source for non stocked (everything) items. Caviat Emptor If you like Izusu (I Do, great engines ) find another dealer or get a lighter duty Kabota , that will still run a very long time in a camper. FAST FRED |

Says nothing about them building them. I suspect they are a distributor. Maybe good or maybe bad alternator. Can not tell much from the literature. I would check very closely and find out who the actual manufacturer is. Richard |

I strongly suggest you take a serious look at Power Tech. Also give them a call to discuss which unit and configuration will most closely match your needs and desire for sound attenuation. Great products, helpful people, and competitive prices. I installed mine 3 years ago and narry a hiccup to date. |
