I thinking about adding a King cruise control to my Eagle 10 with a 740 transmission. Does anyone have one and how does it work for you? Thanks

I have one in my 4104. Very pleased with the operation. The speed setting knob is much handier than the common car system. It also allows engine rpm control if you have an air throttle and no air up yet.

Nearly 60,000 miles without a single problem. One of my better purchases.

I agree with the speed setting knob. You have a choice of that or a toggle switch. I opted for the toggle switch, but wish I had the knob to pre-set the speed.

I don't have an air throttle so will it work just as well without one?

Yes. I completely bypass the air throttle when using the King Control. It has enough power to pull the throttle actuator (rack?) with no assistance needed from the air throttle. In fact it connects directly to the same place that the air throttle actuator connects.

Richard,
Is it difficult to put on? Do I need a real mechanic to do it? Did you do it yourself?

No, I did not do it. It was installed by the mechanic that installed my engine. I do not believe it is difficult to install however. A mounting bracket may need to be fabricated to mount the control box near the throttle actuator. A cable then needs to be run from the rear of the bus to the drivers compartment where you want the control mounted.
I would suggest that you get a copy of installation instructions from King before you buy it and see if it is within your capabilities. For some it is a piece of cake, for others it may be a difficult task.
For a garage, it should be a piece of cake.

Where is a good place to buy a King cruise?

Bob, you might want review this article. Seems like he had a lot more trouble than he should have had. The mechanical installation is normally very straightforward. Sorry but I do not have a link to King and all my information is in the bus at the storage yard.
