I was advised yesterday that I was letting this bbs degrade just like "all the others".
Sorry, don't like a remark like that for two reasons: First, "all the others" can be whatever they wish to be and there are many fine ones out there. Secondly, I have always attempted to moderate this bbs responsibly by editing content for relevancy to the particular thread.
In that regard, even the editing is very broad. Some call it censorship and some call it being reasonable. Think what you like, but if you're thinking of running anyone down on this bbs, think again. I shall edit your message because it doesn't belong here. Just like a Death Notice doesn't belong in the Birth Announcements in your local newspaper. Doesn't matter what you think - it just can't happen.
One slipped past me. Once again, I apologize for that. But some do slip past. Nobody's perfect.
But thanks to friends like "RCB" who e-mail me to remind me why they stay here rather than put up with "all the others", I can effect a repair with a few keystrokes - then the message that was intended to be stated can remain a part of this bbs forever.
Once again, I'll ask participants on this bbs to help me. If someone pukes on this bbs again. Don't answer them, just drop me a quick note saying I missed it. The effect of responding to these authors is that it feeds their ego and your retort will also get the boot. So, no sense responding. If you feel like responding, respond to me instead.
Every day... every day, I come to this bbs and thank my lucky stars that all you legitimate authors participate on the bbs. No one is more grateful than I. It is a true lesson in humility, friendship and loyalty and you never fail to impress me. I love you guys!
Because without you, I would have neither this little computer hobby nor this great bus hobby - and no one knows that more than me.
I banned you, 207.109.1.73. Because you put a Death Notice on this Birth Announcements page. Go ahead, call me a censor or anything else you want. But be advised that you won't have the opportunity to puke on this bbs again.
As you can see... I've had a long day :~)

We would not need censors if people could be reasonable. What you do is Not Censorship, it is just a quick flush of something that should not have gone in the pool!

Ian, I've been lurking here every day for more than a month, and would like to express my appreciation for this wonderful resource. Keep it up! It will be some time before I can actually contribute with the kind of real-world indepth knowledge of the folks on this board but a hearty thanks to you and all the fine contributors who so generously share their experience.

Ian,
It never occurred to me that you have to occasionally censor content on a resource such as this. I own an older converted coach. I have come to this board a number of times with questions. I have never gone away with out several good answers, or ways to evaluate a problem. I continue to be amazed by the depth of knowledge and experience freely given on this board. Ian, the high quality of this board wouldn't be sustained with out your efforts! Thanks for taking the time to maintain reasonable guidelines. Mark Murray |

Once again, Ian, your heavy handed censoring has banned the wrong person. 207.109.1.73 was one of the few who actually had the correct answer to the problem and the first to stand up to your buddy when he was bashing everyone else and faking user ids. You might want to peruse the following thread if you don't believe me. Pay particular attention to the IP address in relation to the name on the post.

Seems like sometimes we disagree, but one thing we DO agree on, is that Ian runs the board right. Some trouble makers come and go from time to time, but mostly we can ignore them. |

I have no idea who 207.109.1.73 is, nor am I aware of any comments he has made. I am hopeful that Ian, as moderator, is totally objective in his judgements.
In the short time I have been availing myself of this board, I have come to find it an invaluable resource, and a source of friendly interplay, for the most part...not knowing 207.109.1.73, either his character, or his offense, I can't say if his expulsion was warranted. Having said that, I must agree, in part, with al anon (I'm with you al).
In the keeping with Ian's request to us, I have taken the opportunity to write a long letter to him, both thanking him for this wonderful bulletin board and outlining some of my concerns, including the MC-8 Condenser topic that al anon mentioned.
To err is human, we all make mistakes, but intentionally hurtful and disrespectful comments should have no place here.
I want to believe in the spirit of Ian's request and I will do my best to act accordingly, hopefully we all will.

Al-Anon,
I sincerely apologize. I got snockered by the IP addresses and I didn't even know about the MC-8 condenser thread - which I have now cleaned up! See how it would be helpful to me if offended parties wrote to me instead of the bbs?
207.109.1.73 is now reinstated. I also went back on the bbs and noticed that your input has been nothing but helpful - or at least insightful. As for your "heavy handed censoring" comment, I will simply remind you of your error in this thread, as well! Again, though, I do apologize.
