There is a cable that runs down from the throttle linkage down to the passanger side of 740 auto transmission. Can any one explain how it works and proper way to adjust.

DA Book will show an angle gauge that is required to set it up.

It is called the Throttle Valve adjustment.

The down and dirty way is you want the lever to be fully extended when the gas pedal is floored. Easiest to have two people doing it-one at the driver's seat and one doing the adjusting. You want the lever at the maximum travel limit when the pedal is floored so the transmission is also at its' highest pressure when the engine is at maximum power to prevent excess clutch slippage. Good Luck, TomC
