OK if this is what Gm said to use. I can get a set that will do 505 revs/mile or 492 revs/mile. What would max speed be at 495 revs/mile? And what would it be with the 505 revs/mile? And 492 revs/mile? I have a 4106 4 speed manual I just want to see what is what. I got 476 rev/mile now. I think it's to much I could use some lower end.I think it's hard on a dead take off.Other then that she will run done the big road I never got up to the govener but it was doing faster then i wanted to go.

The simple and quick comparison is the percentage change, without doing all the math or getting your hands on a chart. 492 and 505 will yld. 3.3 and 6% change respectively. Referencing your 476 at 60mph, given the same engine rpm at 1:1 out of the tranny will yield 58 and 56.5mph and require 60 and 108 more engine rpm to maintain 60mph, respectively. Not much change and probably barely noticeable, if at all. Final drive gear ratio is the answer if u want to lower top end speed or gain hill power. Agreed, that's not quite as easy as changing tires!
