Hi Scott: I just got my 6-71 back together and it running great. I know there is a lot of help here on the board as Im still new to my bus and got a lot of info reading here. I got all my parts that you might check out as the price was good and the kits were good stuff. www.heavydutykits.com they were very nice and helpful on my rebuild. Have fun with your project.
Thanks
Steve

You will have your self a ball changing all the parts from a truck engine to a MCI engine, truly I hope you have a 6v92 from a MCI if not those parts are going to be a little pricey

good luck

IF you do not have the MCI gear drives for the rear of the engine, the truck engine will work. But you will be short one drive, you can change the truck alt. drive on the blower end to drive the PS pump, also pump must turn oppsite direction, and mount the compressor on the(bus right side) drive. Then make a alt. mount, an drive it off the crank if you do not need the big bus alt..
Do you have the bus cradle and bus rear(upside down V back of bus) engine mount? Cause there is a difference in the mount, bus/truck, makeing a sling to mount that end?????????

Different bell housing and end plate on a truck engine than a MCI engine if you have the old MCI engine change the cam, bell housing end plate and the drives be done with it then everything will work

good luck

Scott
I hope you have the engine service manual to guide you. A lot of things to watch for as no head gasket. Different from a car engine. Call if you have any questions as I have the books and have rebuilt several DD's.
Bill
