our 1980 5C is pretty much converted, all the stuff is there and we use it a lot, but it needs prettying up inside. I am about half way through a repower with a NOS 8V71T industrial engine that was factory rebuilt a long time ago and never used. There is an awful lot of work to it, you have to strip both engines to remove the engine plates front and rear to do the conversion. Should be done and running once the snow is gone... | ||

I bought the bus from a gentleman in St Thomas Ontario in May 09 So I had just bought it, didn't have the air brake license so I couldn't drive it! I've been active on the other board for some time. I like reading this board, as part of my education process I went back and browsed through all the archives. Brian | ||

Brian. if the coach is titled as an RV you don't need a CDL to drive it. Look at the motor homes with OLD people driving them and have no clue as to how to do it. I have my CDL class A with passenger endorsements and do not need it even with the air brakes on the coach. Learning from all the classes I had to take was well worth it tho~ Gomer | ||

In Ontario, driver's license is based on weight, and an air brake endorsement is mandatory, regardless of vehicle registration. No exemptions for RVer's in this province. So, what Ontario calls a "Class D" for over 11 000 kg (~24 250 lbs) and a "Z" air brake endorsement for the air brakes does the trick for a busnut. edit: all of which Brian has! happy coaching! buswarrior (Message edited by buswarrior on February 14, 2011) | ||
