Are there any numismatist's in this crowd?

Awhile back I was given a freezer bag full of coins from all over the world.

Many of then are from places that no longer exist, inccluding, but not limited to South America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Eastern Europe, and some from Canada.
I've looked up a few of them online, and still have no idea of how to list them or how to describe them.
One I will mention is called a 'mite', which was the smallest valued coin ancient Hebrew times. I think it was created because the Romans wanted none of their coins to be worth less than anything the Jews had.
Can anybody give me some ideas about what to do with this stuff?

Jack, please don't... we don't want to get metl poisoning from roasting a Dachshund that has been force fed coins!

If you would like I could give you a 100 for the bag and you don't have to worry about them anymore.

...just shooting from the hip here....

the 1st thing that came to mind was that the South American ones are scrap value metal..no collectors.
So with them
the right guy could go sit on the beach
away from the "plant" in the sand
& watch the faces & enjoy spreading cheap happiness & memories of the day for all involved....

If you wuz a Diver
you could salt a frequently used place

or send'em to Mikey
he'll eat ANYthing..!!

But I'd seriously consider Cory's offer above
..my gardener sez with the recession a Benny for
a bag of anything
is a good deal....fwiw

maybe FF needs an Aux anchor...

Dallas

The only one you mentioned by name was a mite. correctly called "Widows mite".

There are two distinctively different yet similar “widow’s mites”. They are the smaller lepton and the larger Prutah coins which were both minted with similar images under Alexander Jannaeus, King and High Priest of Israel from 103-76 BC.

These bronze widows mite coins were not Roman coins at all, but were in fact true Judean coins that were minted during the inter-testimonial period of Jewish history when Israel was a self-governing nation.

They are generally sold in sets of 10 ranging from roughly $255 down to $30 depending on grades of coins with 7 to 10 different grading values. Sold individually they are valued from $3.00 to $44.00 or so realizing that values are set according to collectability.

Bingo!
Thanks Kade!
I knew it was a Widow's mite, but neglected to type the whole name.
I think this particular item is not much for condition, although, then again, I have nothing to judge it against.

I did have an idea awhile ago since I don't know much about these coins, and that was to embed them in the new flat surfaces in the bus, covering them with Bar Top finish to about 1/4" depth.
Kind of a mobile motif for traveling and the money pit that is being traveled in!
Maybe I could intersperse some old stamps I have also.

Dallas...Dont forget to throw in them ole fish hooks in the basement that only caught the big ones on the way back from the fish market....

I would suggest that you take them and get them apprasied by a local coin dealer that you know is trustworthy. It only takes one in the bottom of the bag to equal hundreds if not a thousand...

Not really , there is a grading system MS , that is used to value coins.

Proof mint state MS 69 is perhaps 1000 times the value of a circulated coin , even if rare.
