I have been looking slides for my bays. I looked at joey bed and kwikee slides, but they seem a bit pricey. Has anyone found any other slides or maybe built there own. I have been living in my bus since May and found that slides would be a great addition.

Don I have a MCI MC8 and I built my own slides. I used heavy duty drawer glides that are about 4-5 ft long. They will only go one way but they work pretty good. If you are going to Busin 2004 I will be there and you can take a look.

Took some searching to get the right Slide-Master. Check them out at: http://www.innovativeindustriesinc.com/

Know nothing about them, but this is how to find them on the web.

Slidemaster makes a great product. We have purchased several steel slidea for gen set, battery bank, storage bays, etc over several years. I just received a new aluminum slide for the back of my Avalanche. Very pleased with their quality, price and delivery. They custom make every slide and usually it's delivered within a week of the phone order. Every supplier should be this good, conversion would be easier.

Here is another source. They sell at FMCA meetings. Very high quality product made with "skate" wheels. Not cheap, noting is.

I've been very happy with my slidemaster slides. I purchased a slide for my generator (100% extension, 1000lb load) center bay (70% bi-directional slider that's pretty darned handy, goes out 70% both directions, so you can use the entire storage capacity of the bay easily) and a slider that I plan on using for the companion seat in my mci-9, so that it can slide up even with the drivers seat, covering the stairwell when on the road or parked.

When I ordered in June 2003 there was a 3 week leadtime, but they delivered the parts at the time they promised and they all work great. I am particularly pleased with the generator slider -- being able to move the 1000lb onan out for servicing and to access the bay while I was working on converting the bus was very nice and well worth the price of the slider. We used flexible conduit and flextube for the exhaust and connections, so the generator can be run either in its compartment or out, which made testing the setup easier.

BTW if you're measuring the cargo bay of an mci 9, the safe way to do it to make sure that the slider clears the internal door mechanism is to close the bay door and then crawl in from the other side, marking on the floor of the bay where there is clearance. turns out you need to allow 5 or 6" from the lip of the bay floor to towards the center of the bus on each end for the door to shut properly, and once built, these sliders cannot be easily resized.

4106: I have designed/built slides for my starter batteries which I moved aft of the drive wheels. They are just friction (no rollers) but work fine.

For the big bays I am building 2-way slides using garage door type rollers and tracks that are used on large truck-trailer overhead doors. The rollers are low-profile 1" dia, all steal w/ball bearings. The rollers are .65 each. You also need the roller carrier, which are the same price. The track was $26 for 2 lengths of 7'. So I have less than $75 in the hard ware. I still need to weld up a frame and line it with 3/4 ply but I'll have a real nice slide for about $120.

I had to buy 50 rollers to get the price but will only use about 24 of them. If anyone would like the rest you can have’m @ cost. I can tell you where to get the carriers and track. I also have drawings if any one would like.

Yea, but where are the archives? I looked for thirty minutes to try and find a link to them. I@N seems to have done a good job of hiding them. LOL
