Hey Bruce - I ordered the package special #4 from Ben at;
Scroll down to #4

I found the books in the package worthwhile and a mostly light read. All leave you wanting a bit more in some areas, but I would recommend them.

I'm new to the 'hobby' as well, so you and I will be building ours at the same time. I actually lusted after a 102 like yours, but certainly didn't come across a deal like you got. I'm very pleased with my 9, however and consider it the perfect 'starter' coach. Until I get my E4500! :)

Although not a conversion book, its just a book about buses, one of my favorite books is still the Larry Plachno book on Modern Intercity Coaches. Its available from Amazon, about $60

For conversion information I have to say that this board, the MAK board, and Gumpy's website have some of the best information and comments around. Gumpy's site is larger and more troublsome to move around in than is obvious at first glance, but his write ups and comments are some of the best I've seen anywhere. Its the depth that I wish Dave Galley had put in his book, the Bus Converters Bible.

Gumpys site is:
http://www.gumpydog.com/bus/index.htm

I'd also look at back issues of Bus Conversions Magazine

Just my opinion, but you are not going to learn very much in the way of "building" a conversion with any of those books that you can't learn just by going to look at a few. Talk to a few of the people that have built them and you will learn more than you will find in any book. If at all possible you should attend something like the Bussin' 2004 rally, even if u have to go as a daily walk-in. I have never gone to one of the Bussin' rallies, but the last 2 or 3 appear to have been well worth going to just to talk to the owners about their conversions. Believe me, most self-conversion owners are more than willing to show and talk about their bus, and rightfully so.

I learned more from these boards and Bus Conversion Magazine, than anywhere else.

Everyone here is most helpful.

If you want EVERY issue of Bus Conversion mag since #1 and about 10 years of Bus Traider (for technical articles on maint)

You can purchase my set for a GRAND. plus postage,

This will get you up to speed far better than most books that are stories of the owners conversion of his one coach.

Better to chose from hundreds of "MY WAY" than only one or two.Ypu should be able to save 10X the magazine price by avoiding mistakes, starting in the right direction , and creating systems to fit YOUR needs.

Knowledge is Power , but its never free.

What was paid for them or the effort of colecting a complete set and saving them for over a decade is not the question.

Is the knowledge worth it to you ?

Figure in the resale for the round turn cost and the knowledge from about 300 magazines is a pittance.

You could even have the ONLY complete set in the universe !!

As I'm not an arab ,
there is only ONE price ,
Either its worth it to you , or it isnt.

There is 96 issues on Bus Convesrion on Ebay and they are at $250 with 4 days to go, so make up your own mind what FF's mags are worth.

He is correct about having collected them for years. These bus mags are a DIY instruction book, full of plans and helpful hints.

I was about to complete an automotive magazine collection and the going rate for the $2.95 mag is now between $7.95 and $9.95. I decided to sell mine and take the money.

Peter.
