Wondering while I am rebuilding the back skin on my 4104 if I should just run the exhaust out the roof to protect my toad or just out the side. Feel the need to relate this: Cleaned the first two of four air elements today in my bus. The bottom oil bath pans weighed about 10 lbs. I scraped an inch of red Utah dust out of the bottom. Poor engine with only 2 clean elements runs like a different machine. Back to the exhaust question. Thanks for any help. Eric |

Hi Eric, I don't know how the 4104 is put together but on our MCI 9 it was fairly easy as we were redoing the back cap also. I ran a 6" Exhaust pipe from engine compartment thru the roof and this was the chase for my 5" chrome exhaust pipe. Little bit of flex and some nice stainless clamps and 1- 90` bend up and i was set. The chase inside was covered with "the wet blanket", then 1200` fiberglass, then thin stainless w/straps. At the top and bottom of the chase I drilled three 1/4" holes then welded nuts over them. I then used stinless cap screws to center the 5" chrome pipe in the 6" chase. Worked great!! |

Eric, I thought that the 4104s used three air cleaners. Does yours really have four? Thanks! Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher |

IT has four pans sticking out around the blower but one of them is slightly different. I am going to get to it in a min. but a visual inspection shows 4. I really need to pull the rear window and the cover over the air channel and clean all that out. In due time. Thanks for the info Jay. I guess I need to decide if I want to metal up the window or cap the entire thing first. I like the lines of the steel factory cap. Just thinking that if you plan on redoing the exhaust, then being able to see any smoke from the driver's seat may be a good idea. May save you a ticket in Commiefornia. (California) |

"Commiefornia"? "Kalifornia Comrade"? I think we've found the genesis of the new Algonquin Round Table here. |
