My accelerator cable and other pieces have missed up on my accelerator. So to get the parts to fix it would cost the same as a air throttle. So I got a Williams air throttle. My question is how and what do you mount the air throttle slave cylinder to? Don't see much of any thing to mount it to. To have it pull the throttle linkage.I'm trying to find a place to mount it to pull the governor bell crank.Could I hook it straight to the throttle lever and use the threaded rod from the linkage straight to the air throttle slave cylinder? Or do you need to only hook it to the governor bell crank? Any one that has a 4106 with a air throttle could you try to explain how your's is mounted and how it fasten to the governor Thanks |

when i talked to ronthebusnut about mounting the throttle on a 671 in a 4104, he told me that i'd have to fab the brackets to mount the air cylinder on the governor housing... and fashion some adjustable linkage from allthread and some ball-joint fittings... hook the arm on the cylinder to the governor control arm.... you also need an air pressure regulator... set to about 60 psi...for the supply to the fot control.... |

It is really simple if you see one, the slave kit I had came with all the brackets for it. Someone with a factory 8V71 air throttle send him a photo, like someone with a 4905 preferably. |

Hi Larry, Your links work just fine. Thanks but i notice that your's and my fast idle control cylinder and engine stop cylinder are not in the same spot looks like i might have to move mine Bob PD4106-273 |

Oh i think that the fast idle cylinder is to block the throttle lever. I do know when I had the fast idle on that the fuel peddal didn't work. Can i move that over near the emergency stop mechanism like larry's is |

Hi Sam & Bob, Thanks for letting me know, hate to post and people can't use them, or I don't know. Larry Bob, That is a simple to make plate, or maybe a simplier way to do yours, I kind of like mine, because it is like me simple. How do you like your 4106? Larry |

Love it your right as far as being a simple plate to make. Before I start to move things I want to make sure everything still works. If it wasn't for this board I wouldn't know what I know now. And as far as the 4106 I'm working and learning as I go. When I get to a snage I come here and ask. Maybe by now alot of people seen the question I ask and think does this guY know any thing. But if you look at a lot of my questions I see a lot of people look like they wanted to ask the same thing but didn't. I'm don't clame to be a smart person but I will ask and go on with what makes sence to me . I'm glad the alot of people take the time to put in words how thing are. some do great some do ok put you get alot here and any one that does alot of their own work will learn alot here aswell |

Ask no question get no answer. No such thing as a dumb question, even if think I know, I ask anyway and find 10 other ways to do the same thing, thats the nice thing about this board, they all had to start from some place too. Great bunch of people who will try to save you wasted time and money. |

I have wondered about possible use of an air throttle for my 4104. If there is no air in the system when you are starting a cold bus, how can you accelerate the engine before the air builds up to supply the foot pedal? Do you use the manual throttle? I have never tried to use the manual throttle until the bus is started. Do you guys know something I don't here? |

Start - no throttle, switch on fast idle, air comes up throttle moves to high idle, lets it warm up, circulates coolant thru heater system faster, etc. If idling for long period, it will help keep oil pressure up, especially on DD which idle oil pressure is normally low. |

There is no fast idle switch on my bus. There is only the foot pedal and a manual (pull out) throttle. Are you saying that the air throttle has some sort of fast idle switch to be installed with the process of changing from manual to air? |

My air throttle has no fast idle control, however my King cruise control has a fast idle control function. It is electric, so as soon as I start the engine I can increase the idle speed to any rpm I desire. Works great as a cruise control also. Richard |

Richard, I have read of the King cruise control on this and other boards but I don't guess I know what it really is. I had thought it was the manual throttle that is on my bus but if it is electric, I am totally wrong. Is this on a 4104? If so I would appreciate knowing about it if it really serves as a cruise control. |

King is a add on cruise control that can be installed on any bus or vehicle. Yes it is an actual cruise control and works great. I have had one for ten years and would not consider the many cross country trips I have made without it. As a fast idle control, it is of particular benefit to those who have an air throttle. Many times in starting the vehicle, you have no air pressure and can not use the accellerator pedal to increase idle speed. Since the King system is electric you can immediately increase the idle speed to the desired rpm. Here is a link to their page: http://www.kingcontrols.com/products/motorhome.cfm Richard PS. Do a Google search for King Cruise Control for an actual installation experience by Footloose, who has a great home page. |
