I cannot find what type of oil to use in the bevel gear box for the radiator blowers on an MC8. Would someone tell me what to use? I see nothing in the sight glass.

It's in your Maintenance manual.... the same oil as goes in the engine.

BTW... for all of you that advocate 90wt gear oil... that is still only 50wt motor oil. Gear oil weight and motor oil weight are figured on different scales.

That would have been great. Maybe one of these days I will be able to make one of the bus rallys. Honestly, I can't keep up with who is where. Sometimes I think I'm loosing my brain.

I just changed the oil in the blower gear box.
The book calls for HD 30 wt.
I used Royal Purple Synthetic 30wt.
I think it only took just over 1 quart.
Fill very slowly. It will overfill quickly I found out.
Iver.

My gear box is covered in greasey muck. I think maybe it is leaking. Maybe needs new seals but that all looks like a job.

If overfilled, it definately will leak. Don't ask how I know. Jack
