I have had two. I am in the process of building the second one.
I love these old birds (hounds). Great turning radius, 35 ft perfect for parking. best way to buy a bus is from a commercial user or school that was trading up. Like anything else -you really do get what you pay for. I would be cautious about that $500.00. I paid 12K for mine and it had a stick. It was in excellent shape.I even Saw maintenance records etc. I say take your time and look. Get to know a local diesal mechanic or bus convertor..give him a couple hundred bucks to look a bus over and answere questions. The first time you break down in your coach on your much needed vacation and "overlooked all these issues" you will not be a happy camper. Lets face it folks...buses that run correctly do cost a heck of alot more than half a grand. Back to original question.....If its a clean one, been well maintained its worth it. I changed out my powerplant to a turbo v71, v730auto with exhaust up through my rearcap. A real powerhouse.

Hope this helps...good luck.
