I have a 64-4106 and wanted to get some info on air leveling systems. My air bags deflate uneven and I would like to be able to level quickly when I am stopped for a short time. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kat | ||

Ok Now! Front or rear,right side or left. The front has one leveling valve and the rear has one on each side.If only one side on the rear goes down,it may be the valve,However if the front goes down on one side you may have the following problem. 1.Air bag bad, don't replace just one,chances are both per side will be the same age.Look for cracks in the sidewalls,try soaping them down and look for leaks. 2.Lines or valves leaking by.Soaping also and listning. 3.Air beam leaking or the base of the air bag. Block off plates are available for them also. 4. That will keep you busy for awhile. Be patient and if you have a maintaince book read about the air suspension and it will cover a lot.I had an air bag that was bad and the beam above it was rusted and had a small leak and I replaced them and plated the beam and solved all the problems.. Hi Gomer, The front ones will go down first at about the same rate and the rear ones will stay inflated even when I release the air from the tank. I am looking for a system to keep me level that adjusts the bags either manually or automatically. Thanks, Kat | ||

Kat and Tom I also have four valves on the dash, which are push/pull. Can add or subtract air up to about a hundred pounds. Don't know what it looks like under coach. | ||

Kat all you need is a 4 1/4 " Ball valves and 4regulators Harbor Freight and the length of Dot Air lines. It is easier if your air bags are each plated already so you can do each side independently Chromie | ||

I have the leveling system with four valve controls also but can't figure out how the thing works. I've only had this bus since Dec. Just today after a three hour trip I tried to dump the front bags. The gage pressures went to 0 but there was no change in bus attitude?? The individual rears seem to work but the front was high so I tried to lower it, nothing! I still don't understand why I have two front controls when there is only one original front valve and I see no reason for two front valves? | ||

Gus It looks like you have the front plumbed wrong. You may be dumping the air supply instead of the air in the bags. Check you lines as it should work like the rear. Did the kit come with instructions? Bill | ||

Gus, the manual leveling valves for the front are plumbed in after the automatic leveling valve. This means that manually, with the engine off, your three valve system is a four valve system. I studied George Lowry's system on his 4106 and he insisted that the extra valve gave him more adjustment than he would get without it. For what it's worth. What I have now is lines going to the back valves but not connected. The front go to each side 2 bags each side hooked up to 2 valves(Firestone ride -rite) Up Down button valves with gauge on each. 2 more valves below that which are hooked to the lines that go to the back that are not connected? I want to put in Ball valves with air regulator gauge for each set of 2 bags per front back and each side with dump valves at each gauge. The ride rites that are in there are old and 2 leak and the front ones only hold at 80 or above otherwise they will leak down over night. Chromie | ||

Bill and Tom, This system came on the bus so I don't have any instructions or even know the brand (or even if it is a home made job). The POs don't know either. It may very well be that all I am doing in front is dumping the air from the Aux air tank but it is such a quick dump it can't be much. Weird thing is that the front is down today after dumping both valves yesterday afternoon! So, maybe it is a delayed action thing fro the front?? The rears react right away, I can feel the change. There is a Hwy/Manual switch. I forgot to switch it to Hwy one time when I started out and could feel the front hitting the bumpers. If the front Manual valves are plumbed downstream from the original single valve why is it necessary to have a switch? I would think that these downstream valves would need to shut off the air supply to the original valve to keep it from reacting to the leveling linkage? I haven't crawled underneath yet to look at it but I need to do that. Does anyone have a schematic available for emailing that shows this system? A schematic might clear up all these mysteries for me. | ||

Gus, the front automatic valve can add or remove air and is closed (blocks air) as originally plumbed when centered. The switch is needed because because your coach is not using the alternator to tell it that that the engine is running. If this is a Red Ridout system I will look for my manual. It has operating instructions. I think you have to input air before you can let air out after changing from auto to manual. will look some time today for the instructions. uncle ned | ||

Gomer - 4106's do not have air beams like your 4104. They use rolling lobe air bellows. FWIW & HTH. . .  | ||

Ned, Thanks, didn't even think about that but it might explain part of the mystery. Of course, a lot of things are a mystery to me!! It really doesn't matter what kind of air bags are used, the issue here is how the manual leveling valves work and I am at a loss until I get a chance to check out the plumbing of this system visually or look at a schematic. | ||

It wouldn't be too hard to do one once all the parts were rounded up but it sure is a lot simpler getting the kit provided by Level-It. Does anyone know if Milton Rideout is still in business with these kits? | ||
