Thanks. I had to go out of town today and forgot about it although I had it on my watch list. Missed it. It went pretty cheap. Richard |

I think that is the kind of bus that is fun to look at, but too out of date to make much use of. What are the amenities?-- a Hall-Scott gas engine and a conversion done in 1964? Whew! --Geoff '82 RTS CA |

Geoff, you're right. My wife would have literally killed me if I had come dragging something like that home. Sure is cute though. I really suspect I will stay busless for a while at least. Richard |

Hall-Scott gas engine? That sounds to me like you'd have to get parts at a museum. But, a well-built 1964 conversion isn't necessarily a bad thing. Well, if you're willing to repower... |

Johnny you just don't understand, that is the whole point of it. Imagine the look on the faces of mechanics when you pull in, they shake their heads and say it can't be fixed, and you pull out some spare parts or some fence wire and do it yourself and are back on the road. Ya just gotta love challenges to be in this stuff. |

I'd still rather have a Cummins B. Maybe a slightly tweaked Cummins B... Hmm, maybe a Cummins B with the entire Dr. Performance cataluogue thrown at it, pushing 450HP... OK, I'll stop now. |

Ah Johnny, there's few sounds as sweet as a two-stroke Detroit. And the way they smoke first thing on a below freezing morning! Man I get goose bumps just thinkin' about it. |

Best sound ever: 24 valve 5.9 litre Cummins ISB, cranked up to ~400HP, running 3000RPM & 25+lbs of boost at full-bore through a 5" straightpipe. It gives up almost 200ci to a 6V92 or 8V71 (and even 67ci to a 6-71), & there are plenty of guys making more power & torque...some of the lunatic fringe guys are running twin turbos with 100+PSI of boost, huge hits of propane, & Indy-car type gasketless O-ring seals for the head, pushing 800+HP (and a stupefying 1400+lb/ft). With a stock bottom end. On daily-driven trucks. Yes, the Cummins 5.9 is THAT overbuilt. |

I thought Hall & Scott was a rock duo that never hit it off. So Scott went back to work at Burger Chef on french fries. Daryl Scott met John Oates and they still made lousy music. Well it was the 1980s. Rock already went to poot with Disco. What should we expect. I'm glad I listen to Gulf & Western. I have often thought about pulling one of the DD24V149TA engines off a yacht and putting in DML. Wow. Probably could do wheelies. Richard |

"Probably could do wheelies" It might , but there are no upgrade kits for the rear axles. A local shop has had lots of fun ($$$$$) changing axles on some overpowered coaches. Doesn't take snow or ice , simple rain is enough to get wheelspin , till the dry patch , where the axle parts. A big engine would require a complete upgrade . Diesel locomotives might be a source for EMD's really big engines , but gearing might be a hassle , they usually turn about 700-900RPM. FAST FRED |

you'd be suprised to find 3512 cat engines in locomotives... instead of all the emd645's.... |
