While the post was OT, it made me go turn on the news-- Bob's post was the first I heard of the capture (it was early). Thanks, Bob! |

Hi Bob, Please, no apology necessary. It was only because it was off topic that I removed it. On second thought, I know I could have been more sensitive to you and so many others, as there is jubilation everywhere, especially for our US cousins. Please don't interpret Canada's lack of participation in your war as a snub to our beloved neighbours. One of the many reasons it is wonderful living in Canada is because we have the US and Americans sharing our border. Many countries in the world envy our geographical position on the globe for just that reason. I have said that several times on this bbs. While it is a fact that Canada did not join the alliance this time, and I make no apology for Canada's neutral position during the Iraqi crisis, we simply don't have enough soldiers or financial resources to support the war. That is now reflected in the fact that we will not receive financial benefit from contracts to rebuild Iraq. That's fine, though, we made our bed and we can live with the consequences. On a personal note, I believe Iraq has enough money (read: OIL) to finance their own recovery. That said, I will always take personal pride in the well known role that Canada plays in world peacekeeping. As you know, we have significant presence in Afghanistan, Bosnia and a dozen other countries that are struggling with the rebuilding process. So, Bob, I apologize to YOU for cutting your message short. Let's all use this particular thread to express ourselves with regards to the Saddam capture. I offer you and all Americans both at home and especially abroad my heartiest congratulations on your military victory!! Best regards, Ian www.busnut.com |

Ian, as a US citizen, I for one want to express my fondness for our Northern cousins. (well, except for the Montreal Canadiens, whom I have been known to hate passionately, even while I admired their play) Your country has long been like a brother to ours. (we forgave you for that French & Indian War thing a while back.) Canadians have given this country so much over the years. (I myself count Bobby Orr as your finest contribution to the US, though some may differ with me.) And continue to give much toward the well-being of the citizens of the USA (thank you from the bottom of millions of american hearts that your presciption drugs make that possible) I trully believe that our brotherhood will not only endure but flourish The city of Springfield was joined by the City of Boston in buying prescription drugs for it's employees! (In an illegal show of anger against greedy drug companies in this country) I say...OH Canada! Thanks you, from the bottom of MY heart Brian |

Well then, tell me how much you hated it when Frank Mahovlich was skating around in the bleu blanc & rouge for Les Habitants! Brian |
