Hi folks,
We went off air a couple of weeks ago because of a Denial Of Service (DOS) attack. Hacker nasty stuff! During that DOS attack, the hacker managed to drop in a line of code onto our server that activated yesterday. It corrupted a number of web sites, including all of mine. We take up a very significant portion of the server space, so it did the most harm to us.
Upon restoration of service, my ISP found that the cgi area was also corrupted. That took additional time to sort out. (The cgi area is where a web site's interactivity occurs - that's why BNO BBS and DieselChat both remained off for awhile longer).
Bottom line - or if the above meant absolutely nothing to you - we're back in business.
It's the Internet, folks. Sometimes these things happen. I apologize for any inconvenience this service interruption has caused.

Peter, it's always a pleasure. Everyone, thank you for being here. I feel you to be my family as well.
Gary, I don't know if my ISP actively tracks that kind of movement. Basically, they take some pretty good precautions to prevent, or at least minimize, these kinds of things, but we're sitting ducks, really. It's the Internet... floating around in an imperfect world. I don't really mean to sound so glum. Hey, we were up for almost 2 years without a hiccup - it was our turn!! You know... death, taxes, downtime... shyte happens! Oooops! Bad word. Bad |@n. Strike that :-)
Chuck, you're welcome. Yes, it's a little embarrassing to read all about yourself on another bulletin board. Try it sometime! Makes the heart race a bit, so it does :~) Although I remove negative MAK stuff from here if I see it, even though I email them with a kind request to do the same, they seldom do. That last off air experience was NOT funny - yeah, like my wife would let me get away without paying a bill... not in THIS lifetime!!! hehehe...

Ian, couldn't you just smite 'THEM' or something?
Cast them out...turn them to salt?
For those who inject this board straight into the arm, it is very stressful when these absences of occur.
A plague upon their house at least!
